Of course my favorite put-down of latecomers was done by DAME EDNA.....she also stopped what she was doing and asked the group where they were from.....they told her....and then she said:

"Well.....I came all the way from Australia, and I got here on time...."

I saw Dame Edna in San Francisco several years back.  She was assessing the "look" of the audience and said, "I'm really shocked at how you've all dressed for the theater.  I feel like you're not quite out of bed yet."  She then put her hand over her eyes and looked up to the Loge and Balcony and said, "If you're dressed like this in the expensive seats who knows what 'they' must be wearing up there."

"One imagines trash bags."

Minnesota is apparently going to have a summertime polar vortex early next week. Overnights will be in the 40s; daytime highs will be around 60.  Who knew?      :P

I've just been a lazy boy all day.  I did pick up some packages, did do the edit road map, but didn't choose songs, which I must do.

And on that note (B-natural), it's time to go to the theater!

Until later!

She opened GREASE - which begins with a reunion which sort of explained why all the high
school students were [at least] in their thirties.

I recently learned that many stage productions of GREASE now contain the extra songs that were written expressly for the movie (such as the Robin Gibb-penned title song, as well as John Farrar's "Hopelessly Devoted to You"). The only version of GREASE I ever saw, which was performed here in L.A. at what used to be called the Wilshire Theatre near my house, was a faithful rendering of the original concept musical. Do you folks have an opinion about this? I can appreciate both sides, but I'd rather see the original musical; if I wanted to see the movie, I'd watch the movie. Would audiences revolt if they didn't hear what is basically a Bee Gees song in "Grease"?

That does seem to be the trend these days, DR BrettySphaghetti. I, like you, prefer my stage musicals sans movie permutations. They are different media, after all.

Skip's show Herringbone (which he wrote with Tom Cone and Ellen Fitzhugh) officially opens in Philadelphia tomorrow night.  Here are some photo links (which are from last night's first preview, I think).

I think you can toggle on the previous and next buttons there to see more of the photos.
