TOD - when I was approaching drinking age my Dad said, "If you're going to drink, do it right," and introduced me to the simplicity of Scotch and soda. That remains my mixed drink of choice, along with an occasional Margarita, Manhattan, or one of our friend Doug's Cosmos. I like most wine and a few swallows of beer once in a while. All that said, I am not a frequent drinker and less now that I take several heart meds.
Dad also taught Mom to drink Scotch, a habit that I think has not done her any favors. I blame her severe osteoporosis and, maybe, her macular degeneration in part on 70 or so years of what I consider heavy alcohol consumption.
