So Monday one co worker came in with her hand swollen to 1 1/2 normal size with red streaks running up her fingers to the first knuckle and up to her wrist.... She was bitten by a stray cat and was pooh poohing all our urgent pleas to go immediately to urgent care or the emergency room

I spent days in the hospital receiving antibiotics through an iv due to a dog bite. I am very lucky to have my hand.

I recounted the two weeks my mother spent in hospital on intravenous antibiotics and the conversations that were held regarding possible amputation after she delayed medical assistance until 48 hours after her cat bit her. To no avail

One of the vet techs at our vet practice had a serious problem due to a cat bite.

So when the boss came in I pulled him aside and insisted he order her to the urgent care... He looked at me like I had two heads until I said cat bite and then he had his own tale to tell of a cat bite victim and her stay in hospital

I don't know what they said to her there that convinced her of the seriousness of the bite but she came back with antibiotics and ink lines on her fingers and wrist and now spend hours every day trying to determine if the red is spreading or retreating

That is great! So she didn't go for treatment today but went on Monday. I was thinking the infection began on Monday & she went today. She probably owes you her hand.

For the past few days the young woman who works with us (only 19) has been out as her mother was rushed to hospital with liver failure and she has been sitting bedside

Her mom died last night. Only 39 years old

That is horrible. Thank goodness you got her medical care before that happened. She is just young & ignorant. Poor thing. Does she have other family?

I've been reading about the new iPhones as well. I already have an iPad Mini, so the bigger phone would be redundant. And I hear it won't fit in your pocket. So, if I upgrade when they come out, I'll stick to the smaller one.

This morning another coworker was in an accident on her way to work, In fact she was right across the street from our office when some nitwit who was not paying attention... (Not sure if texting, or phone was involved) crossed over the yellow line and crashed head on into my co worker. Fortunately she has (had. It's been totaled). A big old SUV and she survived with only bruises but she was rushed to hospital by ambulance. And spent a day getting xrayed and examined to be sure she concussion free and had no fractures
