Just finished my fourth week at the new job.  Still pinching myself.  It's been ages since I've had a kind employer.  The company is owned by a husband and wife -- she was a high school classmate.  They are thrilled to have me as a part of their team

You are very, very lucky

From what I can tell the major employer in Weed, the town that lost 150 building over the border from us, is a wood mill.  They are sending a good number of their employees to work in Oregon.  They will be paid whichever job was at the highest level, be it their job in California or Oregon.  Others will remain in Weed to repair the mill.  Those who won't have work will receive unemployment.  Best of all, all those who lost their homes will be found temporary housing by the mill.
