The book signing went well. We sold 48 copies and signed about seven more from folks who had picked them up at Costco and elsewhere.

It was also a gorgeous morning, although it got really warm by about 11:30 a.m.

Well, I somehow didn't get to see much of Renee Fleming last night, because I ended up having to help out my volunteer manager who was trying unsuccessfully to get other volunteers to work. I did get to hear 10 minutes of La Renee, who was in fine voice and she sounded lovely with the symphony in the new space, but I really wish I could have heard the Strauss Four Last Songs. I also heard her finale, a sing-along to "I Could Have Danced All Night," was really charming.

But some good may come of this. I had not been selected from the hundreds who wanted to usher for Paul McCartney, but by helping out my volunteer manager last night, I may have earned a spot for Paul after all. Tickets for the McCartney benefit were priced at $250-$3,500 apiece.

Congrats, John!

Watching Keeping Up Appearances on PBS.  Even though there aren't that many episodes and there's a lot of repetition (Elizabeth afraid she'll break a cup, etc), I never get tired of it!

I shall now be on my way to an opening night, then supper.  Keep the home fries burning until my returning.

Well, I need to take a shower, get dressed and work concessions for A Celtic Musical Pilgrimage to Santiago: Carlos Núñez.  It should be very good.

Be back later!

Today for lunch I had STACKED EGGPLANT:
panko crusted, caramelized shallots, asparagus, cherry tomatoes, garlic, ginger, hoisin, brown rice.

The eggplant was delicious and Keith shared some of his sweet potato fries with me.  They went well with the scrumptious flavors of the eggplant dish.  I didn't finish all of the rice.

For an appetizer, and my protein, we had seasoned edamame.

I love everyone on the show except Hyacinth. She's so horrible, pushy, and like my social climbing Aunt Jean that I live for the episode in which Richard walks out on her or kills and dismembers her.

I didn't sleep very well because of my wonky knee and then I had a  busy morning at church

I suppose the combination of those two and the quiet house since Vix and her Dad  were both out  led to an unexpected nap

and I feel the better for it

Back from dinner at a divey Korean restaurant in which we were the only English speaking people. Food was exceptionally good. That's all that mattered.

It's beautiful outside so I have lots and lots of windows open. Other neighbors are mowing too so it smells like fresh cut grass in here, love that smell!

I do not like that smell, probably because I am allergic to fresh mowed grass.

Me too. i cannot take freshly mowed grass. It makes me gag.  it is especially bad when they mow the entire bike route while I am driving.

I have trouble breathing and need to cover my nose and mouth.  It won't kill me but it isn't pleasant.

One of the elevators at the performing arts center last night smelled of freshly mowed grass. I thought I was going to have an allergic reaction every time I had to ride it.
