DR George, thanks for the pillow update. Glad you found a good replacement for the pillow you love. You got a great deal, too. Are you returning the other pillow or keeping it?

DR Chas, I did the Medicare drill last spring. You've probably been inundated with ads for various health plans. I also received flyers for a couple insurance agents who specialize in helping consumers find the right plan for them. The first one I called was a pushy, opinionated jerk, IMHO, and I never called back. The second one wasn't that way at all and I was happy to have his help. I still spent a full month reviewing plans. There's a lot to consider, but the right plan can save you a lot of money. I was surprised to find that the Medicare Advantage plans offer very good value.

Good luck with this!

I'm glad that Oregon is getting much-needed rain. California is not, but at least someone's getting it.

I, too, found the new judge situation interesting. Cilla, I suspect your instincts are correct about tiring of the restrictions in a few years, had you gotten the position. Vibes that Mynra proves to be a gem and the next chapter of your law practice is very fulfilling.

I suppose I should get off my ASS and go do some errands and whatnot, especially whatnot.  I forgot to say Happy Jewish New Year to all our Jewish dear readers, of which I am one.

DR GEORGE - Brown Paper Tickets is a good choice....DePauw University uses it.

But we have reserved (numbered) seats and between 700 and 800 Season Ticket subscribers, so I don't think its format would work for us.

Ahh...yup, that would make it difficult.

I plan on keeping it, so that I have a back-up when the first one gets old, and I won't have to worry about finding a good pillow again...at least, not as soon.

And I am home!

I had a long 3-hour orchestration-choral tutorial with a composer who asked for some help with a holiday number. I enjoyed it immensely. I think he felt I was beating him up at times.

Back from a cup of soup and a bagel.  We were going to try something other than Astroburger tonight, but I don't know if that will be possible - but if we do do Astroburger I will forego the zucchini fries.

We are thrilled to see a little green on our lawn today.  From now on we will give it short drinks in-between the rains and hope by spring it will be all green again.

Ron and I were apparently madly typing away the same list at the same time :)

Great minds think alike?

;)

That's "my" story...and I'm stickin' to it!

That would be fascinating to hear!   The tutorial, I mean, not the beating up.  But hey, maybe that, too!

Hello, everyone.

A very tired DR Jeanne reporting in. I find that when I have things I MUST do--appointments and such--my body understands and musters the energy. But when I have a day like today, flexible, with only should-do or would-like-to-do stuff, my body will say, "No way!" It lets me know that it's in charge. In other words, I think several months of stress have caught up with me and I'm just really worn out.

I woke up to the very strange and alien sound of rain this morning.  It apparently started in the wee hours and continued until abotu 7:30 a.m.  It was SO good to see rain on the trees and road.  We haven't had rain since late April.

TOD Movies:

I love a lot of the movies from 1939 and 1975. A few from the latter:

Nashville
All the President's Men
The Day of the Locust
Jaws
Rocky Horror Picture Show
One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest
Monty Python and the Holy Grail
Dog Day Afternoon
Three Days of the Condor
Shampoo
The Man Who Would Be King
Tommy
Picnic at Hanging Rock
Farewell My Lovely
Night Moves
The Drowning Pool
Cousin, Cousine

And a few personal favorites:
At Long Last Love
Ilsa, She-Wolf of the SS
Smile
Supervixens
Funny Lady
Lucky Lady

I can't believe someone else actually saw Ilsa The She Wolf.....

Did you know that they filmed it on the same set as Hogan's Heroes?

Larry, have you ever thought about teaching orchestrating in a college?  When I was going to college to be a choir teacher (which, fortunately for everyone, didn't happen), I had to take an orchestrating class.  The guy just basically read the book and it wasn't a very good experience for many of the students who took that class, including me.  Anyway, I'm sure that you'd be excellent at it.  You're actually in the business...and you love doing it.

Just a thought. :)

I would love to be a guest lecturer for a term, and I've been looking into such a situation. No fish have taken the bait yet, but I'm hoping!
