OK, DR Elmore and other NYC folks - I'm investigating this Encores special event:

The Band Wagon

Insights?

I know nothing about it, I'm not working on it, and i am not a fan of the director.

I had a feeling that's what you'd say, DR Elmore...

The director and i aren't fond of each other.  I wonder if she's still being dressed by Frumps R Us.  I love Todd Ellison.

Well, I think we'll get tickets for Friday evening (November 14) or the matinee on Saturday or Sunday.  Now, the big question is: which of those time slots is least likely to interfere with HHW fun?  We're tending towards the 7pm Kritzerland performances on Saturday and Sunday.

Just dozed off for about thirty minutes - perhaps a bit more would be nice, maybe another hour or two.  I did finish a set of liner notes, though.

What is the difference between a chicken lying dead in the road and a trombonist lying dead in the road?

Sorry I was so scarce yesterday.

The morning was spent at Rosh Hashannah services. This was the first year in about 25 that I was merely an attendee rather than a participant singer. The sermon was interesting - it was a very young, tech-savvy rabbi, and at various points she paused, asked a question of those in attendance, and then encouraged people to text their responses, which then appeared on a big screen up front, and with which she then interacted. I have heard of this technology being used at conferences, but never in a worship service.

Then we spent the afternoon and evening with friends visiting from back east.

I thought you visited with friends from the back seat.

Well DR CHAS SMITH....I think I have told you....

How do you know when a soprano is at your front door?

She can't find her key, and she doesn't know when to come in.

I thought that was a tenor.

TOD:

I will be watching the final 6 episodes of SPARTACUS: The Complete Series.

Once you get by the overly gratuitous blood, gore, nudity and sex and concentrate on the story itself, this is a pretty good series; well acted.

I was particularly impressed with Lucy Lawless.  I never saw her play "the warrior princess," but she is quite good in this.

My niece LOVED "Xena"...I'd only seen bits of it here and there, but never got into it.  I thought Lucy Lawless was very good on the reboot of "Battlestar Galactica," which I loved.  According to my niece (who's a big fan of Lucy Lawless), "BG" was the first time that Lucy used her native accent on TV in the US.

Apparently, DR ChasSmith intends to leave us hanging with that one.

I'm thinking there is something in there about "horns".

Why yes there is, DR Ron.

So let's end the suspense, shall we?

You see, the bull is the one with the horns up front and the a**hole in the rear.

Lonny Price directed tonight's PBS Sweeney Todd.

Is he the same clown that directed that AWFUL Camelot in concert a few years ago?

I called Netflix this morning to ask why they hadn't mailed us a new disc yesterday when we reported Behind the Candelabra did work.  I was told to report these at night because the workers leave early in the morning before a new disc can be sent that day.

I also learned that all Blueray Netflix DVD from 2013 on will not work on our Blueray unless we do a software update.  It has something to do with where they get their DVD's because the Redbox ones work just fine.

TOD

Not much in the way of music, I'm afraid.

The other night I watched THE KILLER ELITE which BK has referenced, and I look forward to his comments.  I'd never seen it.  Watched it one evening, then returned the very next evening to listen to the commentary, which (no surprise, of course) was totally enlightening.

Then I watched MAN HUNT, also for my first time, which I found quite good even if it isn't top flight Lang.

I have heard about this at other churches. It's not something I wish to participate in.

TOD - no TV or DVDs for us tonight because we're taking Rob and Mary Linda to our local community theatre to see Side by Side by Sondheim.  I'm hoping for the best...

The same. He tends to behave himself with Sondheim. The author is still alive!

We will need a report DR GINNY.

Well then I am hoping for the best DR ELMORE.

I went to the yard sale next door and bought a nice Yamaha trumpet for $10.
