KDWB Now

KDWB over the Years

When I listened to it the jingle was

KDWB Channel 63.

Jingle

The jingle is at about the :40 second mark on #1

Yes, I know it was a radio station but that was the tag line. This was in the early and mid-60s. We also listened to WDGY (mentioned in the KDWB history and called WeeGee)

WDGY

This all relates to KennedyKat's post because she said her father worked at KDWB

I spoke to DR Kate.  She and her husband were almost evacuated from their home.  They were afraid the roof would collapse. Luckily some guys were removing the snow from the house across the street and DR Kate and DH Jerry hired them to work on their house.  It took 5 guys two hours to do it. The streets have been plowed but there's a driving ban. She said they didn't get too much snow today.  Another problem is that it's going to warm up over the weekend and rain is predicted so they're worried about flooding.   Vibes needed!

I've been there.

Me, too - on two different trips!      :)

It is one of my favorite English cathedrals because of the way it is set up on a hill.

I am waiting to see INTO THE WOODS all at once on the screen rather than on my computer.....I don't know if I will like it more....but we shall see.

In a related note, I have been looking for all of my INTO THE WOODS cd's so I will have for this summer.....and they are someplace else....not where I have been looking.....I am also trying to find my Alex North BAD SEED cd....eventually they will turn up, I am sure.

Is that BAD SEED, The Musical?

This evening I sampled some stuff in the TATI set, all of which is quite wonderful (it'll take a long time to really get through it, and I shan't rush it), and then settled down to watch THE VANISHING (original film, not the remake) which I could swear I watched once several years ago but damn me if I didn't recognize a single scene.  But ..... wow.

My main focus in Tati tonight was checking out PLAYTIME, and the transfer is stunning.

I should mention, too, that there's a link between pain and hydration. I find that if I don't stay fully hydrated I experience more pain. I'm trying alkaline water to see if that helps. Too soon to say, but the concept is valid.

I have never heard of alkaline water.  Drinking water is required when you take Vicodin.

Thursday morning greetings!  Thank you to everybody who has posted travel vibes for us for today.  I really don't want to leave, but I am looking forward to my own shower and having a bedside reading lamp again.  We'll be out of the apartment by about 11 for our flight from LGA at 2.

I am not looking forward to my own shower.  I love the outdoor shower here.  Fortunately I used it before the hard, extremely loud rain began.

Got used to those in Africa. They are wonderful, except when the monkeys steal your towel. :)

LOL. My towel is inside the bathroom door so it will be safe from monkeys even if they show up.

The gas company guy didn't arrive until 5 o'clock. The appointment window was noon to 5 pm, so I was getting a little worried. But he was able to repair the heater through a series of minor adjustments and I now have heat. On cold nights the temperature here can drop down into the 30s, so one does need heat. I'm glad it's fixed and I hope I needn't be bothered with it again.

I have never heard of alkaline water.  Drinking water is required when you take Vicodin.

Most water is somewhat acid and acidity is associated with pain syndromes. The pharmacist who has been so helpful to me over the years recommends drinking the juice of half a lemon in a glass of water three times a day. Lemon juice goes in acid, but leaves an alkaline ash, which alkalinizes your system. The body heals best in a slightly alkaline environment. Alkaline water has been all the rage in certain circles for a few years now and alkaline water can be purchased in health food stores and some Trader Joe's and other places. I quite like the taste of it and it's easier to grab a bottle of it than "lemonize" your drinking water, though I do like the taste of lemon water also.

Said pharmacist also advocates drinking half an ounce of water per day per pound of body weight. Sixty-four ounces per day (8 8-oz glasses) simply isn't enough for many of us. When I get a bad muscle spasm I'll sometimes fast it out, ie, do a water fast, eating nothing and  drinking as much water as I can, until the spasm is gone. There have been times when that was the only way I could find to get rid of the spasm, and thus the pain.

Monkeys entering your bathroom? I bet they have great fun with a roll of toilet paper. And with the shaving cream. And a few other things. No thanks.
