Then a great double bill would be The Crowded Sky and Airport 1975. They both star Dana Andrews and Efram Nimblest Jr. In the former Nimblest flies a small plane that hits a passenger plane piloted by Andrews. In the latter it's the opposite.

Had an oddly not-unpleasant dream shortly before awakening, involving at least two, maybe three, of the usual themes.  There was a performance of something or other about to happen within the next couple of hours, for which I needed to get set up, but it seemed more to involve a setting up of office equipment and papers than anything actually musical.  It also involved a move of offices and a chance to purge stuff.  I can't put my finger on who else was in it or exactly where we were, which I think would unlock the dream more than the stuff remembered more easily.  Damn it.  Damn it to hell.

What had me thinking about Mike Nichols this week was watching the first half of the film version of LUV for literally my first time since the week it was released.  Which, of course, had nothing to do with Nichols -- except that watching it, and seeing Elaine May for the first time in a while, was bringing back a flood of wonderful memories of the wonderful parts of the 1960s, and I vowed to take out my Nichols and May records soon -- which now I will most definitely do, in tribute.

I just read of Facebook that Jason Graae's mom passed away earlier this morning. I remember her from her cameo appearance on Jason Live at The Cinegrill cd that BK produced.

Good morning, all.

Vibes of sympathy to Jason Graae. And I guess to Diane Sawyer.

Dental vibes for BK.

TOD:

I remember really liking "The Bride Came C.O.D.," a mid-level screwball comedy with Jimmy Cagney, Bette Davis and a plane.

Thanks for the further travel vibes!  We're pretty much packed.  Having breakfast now and will soon empty the trash, do the dishes, lock up the apartment, and catch a taxi to the airport.

Dental vibes for BK!

DITTO!

And for my taste, though it's certainly an annoyance, this is NOTHING like dealing with a tooth extraction.  It's just:  work.  And waiting for the permanent crown to be made.  (I still wonder why more dentists aren't going for the same-day crown process.  It certainly has worked beautifully for me.)

Five Came Back

Airplane
Those Magnificent Men in their Flying Machines
No Highway in the Sky
The Spirit of St. Louis
Wings

If we can modify the term airplane to "airship", I will add

The Hindenberg

I guess that's better than being home from work and ready to tackle the barber.

DR CHAS SMITH the Dream-O-Matic 6000 says that your dream indicates that you think of theatre and music as a serious business, and that you wish everyone you worked with felt the same way.  You know the best way to get a show where it is supposed to be, and some people you work with cause you MORE work because of their incompetence.

It almost sounds like a dream DR ELMORE would have.

Thursday morning greetings!  Thank you to everybody who has posted travel vibes for us for today.  I really don't want to leave, but I am looking forward to my own shower and having a bedside reading lamp again.  We'll be out of the apartment by about 11 for our flight from LGA at 2.

News outlets are reporting that Mike Nichols has died. Rest in peace!

That was one of the first stories that I'd read this morning. :(
