TOD:

The Day the Earth Stood Still
Attack of the 50 Foot Woman - Ronald Stein
Attack of the Puppet People - Albert Glasser

DR MBARNUM is not the person who sent me the Frances Farmer items.....it was another collector......who used to work for a FOX television station in the NY area.....as a film editor.

TOD

Too many to try to name, but certainly today's release belongs on any short list.
So here's a short list:

The Day the Earth Stood Still (Herrmann)
Blade Runner (Vangelis)
Star Wars (Williams)
Alien (Goldsmith)
Planet of the Apes (Goldsmith)

And yes, the wonderful scores of Stein and Glasser and others from that period.

I hesitated naming those "big production" films of the late '70s / early '80s.  Just because.  But those scores truly are magnificent.  I can actually listen to the complete Star Wars soundtrack and get so lost in some of the music that I momentarily forget what film it is.

DR TCB has your friend taken any cruises that leave from LA or san diego?  He can drive to those ports.

I would also suggest doing a cruise that leaves from where he lives.  That would help with the stress if he can't fly.

I went to lunch with my 5 year old niece on Saturday.  She was sitting at the end of the table. The waiter left a pitcher of water right in front of her.  Then a while later nobody is paying attention to her and her hand is sort of wet.  I think she was touching the ice cubes. :)

My sister was mad.  I didn't think it was that big a deal. Kids are always touching the ice cubes in their own glasses.  And while it would seem obvious not to stick your hand in a pitcher of water it might not be that obvious to a kid. :)

I had to tell the waiter to spill out the water so he didn't serve any other tables with it.  He was actually very funny about it.  He said, "oh yum, I'm going to go pour myself a glass right away." :)

Listening to an album of Willie Nelson and Asleep at the Wheel doing Texas traditional songs. Lot of honky tonk and just a load of fun. Can't wipe the smile off my face.

The Rocky Jones tv end theme used a theremin as well....and it was quite entertaining.

You have to scroll to 25:08 to hear the end title.

TOD: Vangelis' score for Blade Runner is the first to come to mind.

Star Wars.

Ditto to "Star Wars"!

I'm doing evaluations on my staff.  They're all good, but I'm not good at doing the evaluations.

Back from the doctor. No recurrence of cancer. Don't have to be tested for another year.

Got a really nice e-mail from Michael Kerker of ASCAP - he really liked the Sandy CD and was very complimentary about the songs.
