Workman's comp okayed me seeing another doctor on Jan 30th for a second opinion regarding my knee. Whatever the outcome I hope that can operate soon afterward.

Waiting to hear about the second go around for the multitude of tests for my thyroid.

That is great you get to have a second opinion.  Who chose the doctor?

Think I'll stop at six and just relax for thirty minutes, then do another five pages.  Then break, then do another two or three and I'll be done for the evening.

Rod Taylor once played Travis McGee in a TV movie. I really thought his performance was wonderful, but there was something wrong about seeing an actual houseboat for the Busted Flush that made the movie seem more old-fashioned than it was. And Jane Russell played his next-boat neighbor. She was good but again, it seemed to skew to the wrong age group.

I want to see that!  Odd though it may be.

I read all the Travis McGee books some years ago, and have actually been thinking it's time to do so again.  It's heady stuff, for one who grew up in Fort Lauderdale in those approximate years.

Richard and I had a delightful afternoon of errands, beginning with lunch at one of our favorite delis in Blue Ash.  Then we went to Kenwood Towne Center, where I had an item being held at Williams-Sonoma (a 2.75" doughnut cutter that I'm going to use to make cookies for next week's book group).  We also visited the Apple Store (just to browse), See's Candies, and the kiosk where I had batteries replaced in 4 watches.

After some puttering at home and pizza for dinner, I'm finalizing the agenda for tomorrow's AAUW Middletown general meeting.

I recently reread Bright Orange for the Shroud. Enjoyed it for the writing, but the plotting was unexceptional. It was like a mystery without much mystery to it. Still, MacDonald's depiction of Florida and of certain types of humanity still made it worth the read.

Just finished catching up with Downton Abbey. Not the best written episode, but still a good one.

Well, it's time for me to head home.  I think I might stop at a local sub sandwich shop, Meconi's Italian Subs.  They're a little pricier than other sub shops, but they're pretty good.

Until later!

Eureka! I found my post from May 31, 2013:
Yesterday, I had a good day at Toyland, came home and put the laundry into the washers, and then my postman brought me a letter from an old friend who mysteriously vanished about eight years ago. I've been trying to locate him and his family ever since my Christmas card from 2005 so came back as Address Unknown. So, in the past two or three years, I've used various computer search sites like Intelius, etc. to trace him.  I've sent out letters asking if this was my friend John and they've always been returned unopened marked Address Unknown.

Until yesterday. So, last night,my friend John came into the city and we met for dinner at a ridiculously expensive middle eastern restaurant on 39th Street around 6:30. He's been through divorce and a bad period of health. His daughter is now 14, living in Princeton with her mother, and he's staying with his dad. It was great to see him, and I'm happy to know that he's okay. I wish more of my missing friends could be located.

It's nice to know the memory's still pretty good about dates and things!

I realized that when I changed the Apple ID address and password, that I never changed it on the laptop so that the Cloud would synch with everything.  I certainly remember the first part of the password but now, of course, whatever I enter as the second part isn't working and I do NOT want to change it on every device again.  I wrote it down when I did it at the Apple Store and can't find that paper now.  So annoying.
