They announced the new cast of Dancing With The Stars this morning.

For the most part the cast (of celebs) was not too interesting.  But there was one reveal that had me so excited.

All of the pro dancers had already been revealed but two.  After they announced the "stars" they cut to New York. I was sort of down because the cast did not really feature anyone I knew (yes there were obviously a few older/more famous people that I knew). But nobody too exciting to me who I feel would have the potential to win.  And then they announced that my most favorite pro dancer (who was not going to be doing this season) was able to find a way to do the season.  I am so happy. Derek Hough will be on season 20.

Why are they having Michael Sam dance with a female partner? They are plenty of gay dancing competitions in which the partners are same sex? Heck, tango's origins include many men dancing with men.

Middle America, John...middle America. ::)

DR JohnG, do you have a nonregional DVD player?

I was telling Annalene, Simon, and Rob about the BBC GOOD COMPANIONS, and now they atr gong to rent it.  Several years ago, BBC Radio-3  broadcast the complete Previn-Mercer musical version; my friend John Wilson conducted and Annalene played Susie Dean!

I have that BBC broadcast here at work!  I'll listen to it while I'm waiting for "Stormy Weather" to arrive!

:D

Is it something you can burn to a CD? he asked in a pleading tone.

My friend Marni Nixon just posted that her son Andrew Gold - I assume his father is Marni's ex, Ernest Gold - died on Friday of heart attack.  He was 59.

My sympathies, especially with her having just celebrated her birthday.

I have been notified by DRs Ben and Matthew that Andrew died several years ago.  So, I went back to look for the post and it's been taken down.  It was Marni's post, and I can only guess that someone dug it out of the timeline forGd knows what reasons.  It isn't the anniversary of his death today, so it beats me.

How strange.

Jane, the question is how did they even FIND a post of hers from 2011.  That's four years ago.

I wonder what "Pshaw" would sound like through a Lawn Guyland accent.

Good mornin, allQ  This is my first day to myself now that Paint Your Wagon is ready for the reading on Friday, and i slept late, and vry nicely.  I am happy to report that, thanks to this job, when I am paid for my last invoice on this around March 12, I will be caught up on my February bills. It was that damned property tax that did me in. God knows what's paying March's yet.  Oy!

DR Ginny, I did receive my copy of The Miamian yesterday, but if you don't mind sending your copy, I'll pass it on to Rob, since he's mentioned in it.

Today, I will begin my income tax work for my appointment next Tuesday.  I will also do the laundry and get a new battery for my watch.  When I woke at 8:45, my watch told me it was 6:15, and I was late to dinner last night because of the damned battery, so out with old.  And speaking of dinner, here I am last night with my lovely leading lady Annalene.

That is a lovely photo Elmore!

Watching Algiers and am surprised at how good it really is. I had loved the original, Pepe Le Moko, so I stayed away from the Hollywood version, but I'm really getting into Charles Boyer's performance, the James M. Cain touch on the script is great, and the camera work is great. Even the way the camera lingers over Hedy Lamar's face is wonderful (as is her face, needless to say). Wish I hadn't waited so long to see this.

Some idiot twit named Danielle seems to have found Marni's 2011 post on Andrew Gold and posted something, so it ended up on all Marni's friends' FB timelines.

I just reviewed all the posts I missed during Sunday evening's Oscar bash.  Low turnout this year, but a delightful read.  How nice to see BK turning the big 80,000, and to have been dropped in on by DR Edisaurus.

However, after all is said and done, the award for Best Post goes to vixmom:

Just back from hearing a stunning piano recital by the 23-year old British pianist Benjamin Grosvenor. Playing well beyond his years.

I'm unhappy about Derek Hough dancing in the DWTS season, too.  Now I HAVE to watch.  Derek is the best dancer on the show, bar none.  Of course, if his partner is a dud, it won't matter.  His partner's last name, IIRC, is Liunka.

I don't know what a Liunka is.  Have never seen the name before this morning.

Don't associate with anything.

I touched Derek's hand twice when I saw them in Sioux City, lol.
