See... Now that wasn't that bad was it?

One closet down, one more to go.

Not too bad.  There were actually a lot less droppings than I was expecting.  A lot less.  :)  And I also found the mouse hole in the inside corner of the closet.  I shall be heading to the hardware store to pick up some of that expanding foam stuff so that I can fill the hole in and block the access.  Hopefully, that's the only access to my room.

Right now, I'm just waiting for the floor to dry.  I went ahead and Mr. Clean'd the floor in the closet and the surrounding area just to be efficient and hygienic.  It is sort of amazing looking at all the stuff sitting on the floor in front of me.  Who knew that that closet was so big and could hold so much stuff?   ;)

I've also called over to my mechanic.  Car should be ready by 5:00 - and I didn't detect any "gloom and doom" in his voice.  :)

<knock wood>

-Sorry DR SWW.

DR Jane will probably not see this since she's in transit, but the NY Wednesday Fun Club (also known as the HHW East Coast Gang) has been confirmed for Wednesday, October 6th at 5pm at Barrymore's, 267 W 45th St. (212-391-8400) near the corner of 8th Avenue. The reservation is for 6 people (DRs Jane, Larry, PennyO, Noel, me and our DR in absentia, Anthony) and it's in my name (McLaughlin). See ya there!

Got to run off and read about 25 pages of boring theatre history stuff (French baroque, yippee), but I wanted to respond to a few things from yesterday.

Thanks for the compliment, François!  I've never broken anyone's legs though, and I don't think I've broken any hearts--maybe just a hairpin crack here and there.  ;)

Elmore--I thought about you when I was reading the Where's Charley? Goodspeed reviews!  How did the production go for you??  I read that Noah Racey was very charming.

I guess my favorite animal performance was from Toto, in The Wizard of Oz.

Speaking of animals, I saw something that made me cry today.  There was a cat lying next to the sidewalk.  It looked like it was sleeping or in repose, but it's eyes were open and it was dead.  Things like that just break my heart.

Didn't get to continue with RICHARD III as I had hoped. Had a late lunch and was watching some TV recorded last night so I could clear it off the DVR's hard drive. Maybe tomorrow.

I am here.

And now I'm gone - to buy chocloate before class because that is necessary in these days of paper writing.

BK - do you find you eat more while you are working on a book than otherwise?  Something about writing makes me monstrously H-U-N-G-R-Y! :)

Maya - glad to see the HHW skankette is back! (I'm kidding! I'm kidding!) :D

I saw another place this morning. The woman renting it was called Cricket and she sounded very perky on the phone. I half expected Connie Stevens to show up. But she didn't. And the place was a sh-thole. Anyone under 18 can fill in the blank with an "o"... The rest of us know whereof I speak.

My lower achieving seventh graders read OLD YELLER and always loved it. Then we'd watch the movie and take notes on changes from book to film. Then, they'd write a report on the changes they liked or didn't like from book to film.

DR Maya, I didn't see Noah in NEVER GONNA DANCE, and I didn't know a thing about him, but he is a real star, charming, great comedy timing, and one helluva dancer.  It was great seeing him blow away the audiences, who adored him, for a run of sold-out houses.  I think he's brilliant.

Dreyfuss, as played by Bear, was really the only reason to watch Empty Nest.

According to the final episode Dreyfus was really played by an actor in a dog suit.

Animal performances/performers:

The horse in "Black Beauty" with Mickey Rooney

Benji

Toto

Does anyone remember a movie about a dog that gets very large (because of a growth formula) called "Digby:  the Biggest Dog In the World?"  It probably wasn't very good, but I saw it as a kid, so it was a lot of fun to me.

definitely Eddie from FRASIER

And ANY movie with The Muppets!! ;) ;D

For Maya...and for Panni, and Laura, and Jane, and...all of us who love cats:

CAT HEAVEN

by Cynthia Rylant

The way to Cat Heaven is a field of sweet grass
where crickets and butterflies play.

A cat may be late in getting to Heaven . . .
there's so much fun on the way!
But an angel will wait
at the yellow front door,
wait til a kitty
comes home.

And when she arrives,
he'll give her a kiss
and some milk
in a bowl all her own.

There are trees
in Cat Heaven,
trees made just for cats,
trees growing
so green and so high.

But no one gets stuck in a tree
anymore --
if a cat wants down,
she will fly!

And oh the toys,
kitty toys everywhere,
thousands and thousands
go by.

There are buttons and baubles
and small cotton mice --
there is catnip afloat
in the sky!

There are angels,
of course,
with soft angel laps
where kitties can purr
loud and strong.

The angels will rub
kitties' noses and ears
and sing them
a Cat Heaven song.

And when cats are hungry,
there's God's kitchen counter
all covered with
white kitty dishes,
full of tuna and salmon
and mounds of sardines,
and wonderful little pink fishes.

The cats in Cat Heaven
are so loved and spoiled
God lets them all
lie on his bed . . .
He walks in His garden
with a good black book
and a kitty
asleep on His head.

Then when a cat needs,
she may just simply ponder
and watch the blue world deep and wide . . .

She will watch the old house
where she once lived and wandered,
and the people who loved her inside.

All cats love Heaven,
they know the way there,
they know where
the angel cats fly.

They'll run past the stars
and the moon and the sun . . .
. . . to curl up with God in the sky.

Nor do I want to hear anything about a certain "loveable furball dog" whose name is a shortened child like version of my full name. Capice???

Umm...if you're referring to what I think you are, I didn't read your post in time to stop my post.  Sorry!! :-X

I forgot to set my VCR to tape "Desperate Housewives" last night!  I went to tvguide.com to see if the pilot episode might be rebroadcast and it will!  Next Saturday at 10:00 p.m.!!  And I saw that the second episode is called "Ah, But Underneath."  Sounds specifically like a Sondheim reference to me!

Maya - glad to see the HHW skankette is back! (I'm kidding! I'm kidding!) :D

Thanks, Emily!  ;D

Are you telling me that I'm demoted though?  You used to call me a full-fledged skank.  ;)

I'm sorry, Panni!  I really shouldn't have written anything!

That was a lovely poem, Ron!  Thank you!

(I desperately need a nap before late rehearsal tonight (10:30-12:30 OUCH), but I'll try my best to check in briefly around 10 or so!)
