ASK BK

How did you get Amy Adams for your customer designer for What If? Looking at her bio she was just becoming well known for her work.

Because one of the cast was dating her brother and she wasn't doing anything at the time.  Junebug hadn't been released yet.

Now having actually seen Walter Keane in action (you tube) I'd say Mr. Waltz did what he was supposed to do.  He was knocked by a LOT of critics for it.  They were wrong.

Just made sure I didn't knock him, but I didn't - whew!  And interestingly, I did mention his accent, but the real Walter Keane had a very strange cadence to his speech - not Mr. Waltz's Austrian cadence, but it's not so far afield really.  But you had many critics saying Waltz was just bad and blaming Mr. Burton for allowing such an outsized performance.  All they would have had to do was read up on this guy.

DR Jane, no, I don't think you're crazy.  Sometimes you just have to push a little.  I like the coffee shop option...

It felt good to be out there.  On the whole it was ok.  For the steep downhills I just used the shoulder of the gentleman in front of me for balance.

Once again, the patented haineshisway.com vibes have worked - Petula is in.  So, now I need some personal excellent vibes and xylophones because we need some miracles around these here parts.

A couple of weeks ago, I was browsing Amazon and found a collection of French comedies - I would swear W.S. Gilbert's English version of "An Italian Straw Hat" was among the plays - but I didn't add it to my wish list.  Now I cannot find it.  I swear I did not imagine it.

It's working my last nerve today.  I am so pissed at myself.

I'm about a hundred miles north of you (exit 101 on I-5), which is only about an hour and a half of driving time. :)

Tom is about another half hour north of me.

MacDonad's and Boston Market have their tax day meal specials today.

I'm sure there are other chains that do the same.

I wonder what the specials are.  I just might go there for lunch today after my meeting that starts in about 15 minutes.  Hopefully, that won't take the full hour and half that's scheduled...I haven't had anything to eat yet. :-\

DR GEORGE it has been my experience that letting other groups use your space is MORE trouble than it's worth.

If you decide to go ahead....even for a part of the box office.....you should have a guarantee of a certain amount.....that way when they get five people in for their show, you still get a reasonable amount of money.

They also expect a LOT of you, and your staff will always have to be on call for them. You have wear and tear on your equipment and spend lots of your time....eventually the tail starts wagging the dog.

My suggestion is let them go someplace else.  For me, improv is a pretty useless enterprise.  You go for about thirty minutes and get one "brilliant" comeback, otherwise it's a struggle.

They just make it look easy on WHOSE LINE IS IT ANYWAY?....and even they are not funny a LOT of the time.

You make some good points, but the acting group has made it clear that they don't really need anything from us except promotion and the space.  They can work around any sets that we might have up and we'll have someone there at all their performances to make sure that nothing happens to our stuff.

Their "improv" actually has an outline, so it's not entirely improvised...just the dialogue.  The core group has been doing this for a long time, so they know what they're doing and people on our board know them personally and know that they're good people.

It also sounds like they have a dedicated following, so it should be a good thing for both of our groups.  The other plus (for us) is that it'll help publicize not only that the space is available for rental, but that Theater Artists Olympia (we're the stewards of The Midnight Sun) is a working theater group and have shows of our own.  Our theater group and the space can only benefit from that kind of exposure.

AND it's a done deal.  It was actually voted on last month.  Last night, we just talked about some of the details...we set an audition date and a couple of possible starting dates and made sure that they only want the space and none of our "stuff".

That is surprising.  I actually need to pick up my pace. I over-committed to reviewing books.  I have 2 that are coming out on Tuesday that I need to read before then. and 2 more the next Tuesday. Plus 2 library books (one due this friday that i haven't even started) and one due next friday.

I went to check out the lake on my bike. It is still not in the best condition. The lake is a bit icy and the path is a bit wet. Plus it's not very scenic when none of the trees have leaves.  But it was so windy. So i cut through to check it out. There were some ducks in a huge puddle.Maybe the lake is too cold for them. :)

DR ELMORE I did that so many times, I started bookmarking pages that I found by accident....every few weeks, I can delete the bookmarks if they become to unwieldy.

It has saved me several hours in re-searching time.

I am now off to the speed thru for everyone except the ODES.
