Congratulations on Melissa Manchester.

Saw her twice in musicals. One was a stage version of "Love Me or Leave Me." The music and singing was good, but, well, she was no Doris Day.

The other was "Song and Dance" with her singing the first act. She was much better here.

Has anybody heard the musical she wrote? I think it was "I Sent a Letter to My True Love."

I have this CD. She actually performed here in Olympia (I ushered for her concert) and I was able to get her to sign my CD! HOWEVER, that CD was in one of the boxes that got stolen from my garage a few years ago, so I had to get another copy, but of course without her signature.

I do like the recording and the performers. It's an interesting story, but I think it's pretty well done.

Watching "Frieda," which I'd somehow never seen.

Like Julie Taymor's visual sense and Selma's performance, but dramatically, the script is messy and you have to bring a little too much history with you to get it all. I was glad I had read Barbara Kingsolver's The Lacuna.
