I had the same craving.  It didn't help that peanut butter cookies are one of my absolute favorites in the first place.

Mine, too!  That and oatmeal raisin.  And snickerdoodles.

elmore wrote a lovely review so go read it everyone.

I loved the book.  You deserve a gold star. It's now my fave Adriana Hofstetter and i'm ready for the TV series. I was sure my comment about craving cookies wold give it away!

Ever since i finished it - and I ended up reading it in one sitting - I have this enormous craving for peanut butter cookies!

Well, the recipe is there in the back of the book.  The REALLY great recipe in the back of the book is Margaret's Chicken, which is actually Muse Margaret's chicken - all the recipes save for Wacky Noodles are Muse Margaret's.

I loved the recipes!  But if I baked a batch of peanut butter cookies, my blood sugar would go through the roof. I'd eat them all in one sittng and go bake some more.  However, stopping in a bakery and purchasing one would be just enough.

Barbra Streisand is writing an autobiography.  To be published in 2017.

I wonder how she'll get out of book signings?

Meant to comment on the Streisand memoir.  If it's one those written with someone affairs I'm not interested.  Having just read Cindy Williams' new book, it is, for me, a book without a point.  She just jumps from thing to thing and her co-author puts it all down and tries to make a show order.  But you know how it occurred - they sat and he recorded or she recorded and sent to him anecdotes, which do not a story make.  She's had a fun career but the book has no life to it.  When I decided to write my first memoir I thought, "How pretentious, who would care?" - and I thought that until I realized I had a story to tell, with a beginning, middle, and end.  A story that went somewhere, had a point and point of view and was actually written, not dictated.  Those are the kinds of autobiographies I respond to.

I had to fast for the blood work today, so I left the house starving, but for a good cause.

Well before my volunteer driver came to pick me up, the surgeon's nurse called and offered me an earlier date for my surgery. She was going to put me on the schedule for next week. But I hadn't been cleared yet, and I've gotten used to the June date, and my Medicare kicks in in June, so I declined.

But, that was a propitious start to the day. I was in and out with the blood work. The same with the EKG.

Between the EKG and the visit with the cardiologist, there was time to have lunch. My volunteer driver, Mike, bought lunch for me and it was very nice of him. Lunch was enjoyable.

Since he is a car hobbyist, I had Mike take a look at the photos posted on yesterday's Haines His Way. Mike rattled off car models and years without any second guessing, and was confidant in estimating the year for each photo.

Mike thought the photos were not too far apart in time, as the car bodies were very similar. Apparently car bodies were very similar from 1947 up until 1954. Mike noticed a car in photo 1 that was a 1949 Hudson, and in photo 2 he spotted a Chevrolet that he thought looked like a 1950 model.

Then, it was time to see the cardiologist. This was the part of the day that was destined to slow the day down, and it did. Even though I was there exactly on time, early as recommended, of course I still had to wait. After maybe an hour, I did see the cardiologist who was stunned that I have had such progress considering I had started at Stage 4.

The cardiologist was going to schedule me for a stress test for several weeks from today, but she realized that I have a surgery set earlier, and that's where the fun started.

After much back-and-forth, the respective offices were able to work out a solution. I did not want to change my surgery date in June, yet I had to have the cardiology testing, so I had the stress test today.

Since I had lunch, I had to wait 3 hours to avoid any problems of nausea caused by the test. The chief cardiologist reminded me that the testing was to determine if the intensive chemotherapy I've had caused any damage to the heart muscle.

He also requested that I be given the chemical stress test rather than the treadmill.

My target heart rate was 145. Pre and post echocardiograms were taken. I got to listen to the computer's impression of the sounds my heart was making.

The hormone made my heart race and my whole body feel like it was lub-dubbing. Luckily, I had no headache. I made it to the target rate.

Unofficially, the technician and the nurse said I passed the test. I will have to return 1 week from today for official results, but they think that my surgery will go forward in June as scheduled.

HOORAY!!!

DR John G. - perhaps the ulterior motive was to bond you as a team over the shared dismal food/conditions.        :)

Doubtful. But the lunch did make me sick.
