Lettuce is one of the most difficult foods to digest, so I personally wouldn't recommend a cobb salad for the stomach flu. Mark asked me, "whatever happened to good ol' fashioned chicken soup for what ails you?" I would head straight to Jerry's Deli for some of their fabulous matzoball soup. It's a huge bowl and I can't imagine anyone with the stomach flu being able to finish it, but you could always take home the leftovers.

It was suggested to me by a neighbor who's had the same thing that IF I'm still queasy today that I do the BRAT diet - bananas, rice, applesauce and toast.  The thought of that, however, already makes me want to vomit on the ground.  What I'd really like to have is a meatless Cobb salad, but don't know if that's good or bad for me.

Apples have pectin, which is a good thing to get your stomach et al. back into ship shape:

Well, I got some things done, and the place is looking better and I'm feeling good.  So, now to figure out how best to enjoy a quiet evening at home.

DR Jeanne, how about stopping by Trader Joe's and treating yourself to something you like but ordinarily wouldn't bother with?

I think the BRAT idea sounds pretty good.  At least it seems like it would appeal to me in times of recent stomach distress.

Anne Meara has died. Sadly, she's identified as Ben Stiller's mother instead of for being a great comedian.

That's the first article I noticed when I went to check my e-mail. :(

I used to see her a lot when I worked at Barnes & Noble.  She liked me, and i was quite fond of her.  she was also a wonderful actress, the original Bunny in The House of Blue Leaves.  I also loved her as David Eigenberg's demented mother on Sex and the City.

I loved her in FAME...the original movie, of course.

Has anybody seen "The Drop" with Ton Hardy and James Gandolfini? Is it really more than three hours long? Is it worth it?

I haven't even heard of it.

I watched a fractured fairy tale TV movie, PRINCE CHARMING, that was funnier than I thought it would be, and now I'm watching the 1975 BBC miniseries MADAME BOVARY, with Francesca Annis and Tom Conti.  Three hours to go!

Funny you should say this. A few days ago I wanted some strawberries and stopped at Trader Joe's for some. I told myself I could buy anything I wanted in honor of my upcoming birthday. What did I leave with? Strawberries, cherries, and toilet paper. Truly, my needs are modest! Of course, now that CHOCOLATE is a no-no due to heart issues, it really narrows the field. I can be quite happy, however, with simple (and low-cal) treats. And it's soooo nice to be back to my smaller size.

I'm a fan of Tom Conti. I think he's a wonderful actor. I may have to check that out.
