There was some discussion of needing passports for Canada.   I know a little bit about this...  For the last several years a passport book or passport card is needed.  Alternatively, there are a few states, including New York, that issue "enhanced driver's licenses," which are acceptable.  I know that DR Kate has one.  When you live in the Buffalo area, it's not unusual to go to Canada for the afternoon or evening.   The passport card and enhanced license are only good when traveling by land or sea.  You need a passport book when flying.

My understanding is that Canada does not require a passport to let you in. It's the U.S. Who demands the prassport so that you can get back into the U.S.  I believe it was part of the patriot act

I'm sure you're right about this, DR Kevin, but I saw no mention of it on Canada's website. It said that California residents don't need a visa, but said nothing about a passport or special driver's license. Harrumpphh. I'll look again. I used to vacation in Canada rather often.

My understanding is that Canada does not require the passport to let you into Canada it is the U.S. Tha requires the passport to let you back into the states.  I believe it was enacted simultaneously with or as part of the patriot act

Would love to stay for some west coast Tony talk, but I've been up since 5am and did not have a nap.  And I have an early, unpleasant dental appointment tomorrow.

'night!

Well, I tried to log onto my tablet in my secured wi-fi, but I couldn't get on.  I had to switch to the non-secure wi-fi. :(

Well, the opening number probably sent anyone who'd tuned in running for the hills - they're trying to get an audience and ratings and they send out Alan Cumming in a purple little boy's suit?  And Kristen - well, too damn skinny.  And Radio City is the WORST place EVER for an awards ceremony.

Then we had that number from Something's Rotten.  Cute, but boy after what I'd heard they must not have done the whole thing or I don't get what is driving people mad.  The musical quotes - I was doing this, I hate to say, back in 1981 - yes, 1981 - in Together Again in the song I Hate Musicals - we spoofed steps and musical quotes from everything running back then.  Why is this meta crap so popular - I guess it makes people feel in the know when they recognize something.  And finally, this laugh track and screaming is hilarious - they cut to a wide shot of the audience sitting there looking dour and you hear screaming, cheering and laughing.  From where?

Is anyone serving this at their Tony party?  Is anyone serving this anywhere??

I used to get loaded when I made mashed potatoes.

On Tuesday, the Washington Center for the Performing Arts is having their annual volunteer appreciation dinner/event.  I was told that this year they're having a mashed potato bar, where you get mashed potatoes in a martini glass, then you can add any toppings you want.  Sounds delish!

I have been to a couple of weddings where they had this there was a choice of Idaho mashed or mashed sweet  potatoes.  They they had selections such as chives, sautéed onions, sautéed mushrooms, cheese, bacons, sour cream, gravy, brown sugar, butter, marshmallows, and chopped nuts

I am on Season Two of the Father Brown mysteries.  is anyone else watching them?  They remind me a bit of "Midsomer Murders" with at times more humor.  The one i'm watching now has a bit of Rear Window meets Mapp and Lucia, a killing at a summer fete with fighting over the best cakes and pies.

elmore, I watch them.  Find them pleasant enough.  Prefer Midsomers.

Oh, my Lord in heaven.  The attempts at humor are horrible - and yes, how hard is it to pronounce the name of a legendary man of theater like Oscar Hammerstein?  And I'm sorry, but from the looks of it, this King and I is not a patch on the buttcheeks of the revival I recorded with Donna Murphy.  They need two classy hosts, and should stop trying to be funny and just have fun and move things along.  If they can't show Tommy Tune getting his award, but need to show this horribly unfunny crap between the hosts, well...

At least I'm on-line.

I was for a bit, but even though my wi-fi signal was stong, I kept getting error messages that I wasn't on-line.  I moved my modem/router and hopefully this will fix it.  I can only hope.

My outfit was perfect for an episode had they also been called to the fire.

Oh, did you remove your shirt and run your hands through your hair so it stops up on end?

I am proud to say that I didn't give in to my anger and call the cops. Instead I focused my anger into doing something constructive. Plus, playing Bernard Herrmann pretty loud kind of gets the point across. (I did make a call to the information line at the Sheriff's office, and spoke loudly enough, just in case the walls have ears.)

So last night the cats were acting weird. I thought it was because it was storming....no, it was because I had another bat in the house.  AHHHHHH~~~~~!!!!!   First time in years, but I shrieked and screamed and grabbed my butterfly net and got it.  I took it outside and after a little while it flew away.   I'm really hoping it went somewhere else.  I'll call the bat proofers tomorrow

you're a better man  than I, Gunga Din
