Well, you've read the notes, the notes were not PC and were completely retarded, sexist, misogynistic, racist, and moronic, and now it is time for you to post until the PC cows come home home.

Our phone service is back. I assume that means our internet service is back as well, but since I'm at the office and Anthony is still asleep I won't know until Anthony turns on the computer and modem/router at home to find out.

A technician from Verizon came yesterday at around 6pm. I was at the Theatre so Anthony was there to handle it. They got caught in the torrential downpour but they did get into the back yard. The technician confirmed that there was nothing wrong on our end. It was in some deep dark area of Verizon's inner-workings. He said he would put in a work order. I got home at 9:15 and the phone was still not working. I went to bed at 10:15 (no phone) but I got up at 5:45 this morning and lo and behold, the phone worked. I called my office number and a couple of other numbers (no one was awoken during this test) to ensure it wasn't a fluke. My cell phone is now officially turned off until I need it again.

As I said earlier in the week, there is much to do at the office so I will leave now, happy that we are back in the land of communications.

Good morning, all!  I have another day at the Columbia library.  I had a great time there yesterday looking over press clippings, a City Opera program, set designs, reviews, several drafts of the libretto, and letters between Jerome Moross and Edward Eager.

Gentlemen, Be Seated! was begun in 1955 for producer Roger Stevens and the Playwrights Company following The Golden Apple.  The 1955 press releases say they were looking at Gene Kelly or someone like him to play Mr. Interlocutor.  Stevens couldn't get the backing, and the 1963 City Opera production was the result of a grant from the Ford Foundation

In the earlier drafts, the framework seems a bit more realistic; one number, "What Has Become of Beauty?" was about the battle at Gettysburg, but in the final draft, it's the penultimate number, so I suppose in an abstract way it's more a comment on Lincoln's assassination and the Restoration.  I got the impression that several critics felt that the City Opera production was too often not realistic enough.

DR Jeanne, I'm wondering who was the singer on MAJOR CRIMES.  Kearrann Giovanni, who plays Set. Sykes, was in the 2009 revival of Finian's Rainbow.

~ ~ ~ CONTINUING RECOVERY VIBES ~ ~ ~ for DR Dan M!!!!!!

Here is his full update from Facebook:

It was supposed to be a moderately long surgery, but turned out differently. I was only supposed to have been in hospital overnight. My surgery had to be finished using the tried and true "by hand" methods and not robotic. Surgery was 7 hours.

My overnight stay became 6 days. I will update more later as I am home trying to handle my pain and readjusting to non-hospital life. Please continue sending whatever you can. The hospital bills are worse than what I was expecting. I hope that in few months I can look back on the whole thing with a laugh. I'm on too many painkillers to write a decent post, so I will hope to see you here tomorrow or as soon as I can.

When I'm home from Columbia, I must begin some apartment work to accommodate the arrival of a new filing cabinet.  Thank God the AC is running well.

Office Depot customer service never responded to my complaint email about this seriously damaged folding table yesterday, and last night I got on their Chat line and resolved the problem.  It will be picked up next Monday and returned for credit.  When I tried to set it up to use my binder last night, I discovered that one entire 4-ft length of support was not even bolted to the table top.

That was the clincher to return it.

Sorry about that, DR elmore3003, but at least the situation will be resolved.  What a pain, though, all the way around.

DR Cillaliz - no, I didn't see the Northern Lights! I saw your post too late. I hadn't heard about it otherwise, darn it!

Does anyone know who wrote the song "After the Show" from the Karen Akers CD Presenting Karen Akers. The booklet doesn't list anything resembling production credits and all Internet searches are for naught. I can find many references to the CD (we have it) and track lists but no credits for anything other than Akers and a history of the CD/production (for European television as I recall).

DRs, my college friend Craig could use some vibes.  His son has been missing since June 17, and I know the family is going mad with worry. Supposedly, he went missing after leaving to someone he had met on a dating site.

BK,

I totally agree with you on "politically correct".

"Politically correct" kills people.

Had the Army not been "politically correct," the Fort Hood massacre would not have happened.

There was a song written by Sammy Fain & Ralph Freed that used this title. It was used in the film Two Sisters From Boston 1946

Here is the song from the movie. So you can see if it is the same song.
