Good Evening!
Day Two of rehearsal - well, Day Two, for me - went well. We finished the Tap sequence, and then ended the day by choreographing the Finale/Bows! WOW! It was amazing how the air of fatigue and frustration changed in the room as soon as everyone formed that final line and started doing those famous steps! -And it was also the one part of the dance that did not need to be choreographed since everyone knew it either from doing the show before, or from learning it in some class. I actually got goosebumps! -And a little teary-eyed.
I did some more exploring of downtown Houston during the two-hour dinner break. I headed over to the Market Square area where I found a nice fast-food type Cuban and Mexican place. Pretty good. That area of town also some other places I'm gonna try to check out. However, like most of downtown Houston, a lot of the places are only open until 3:00 in the afternoon - it's very much a 9-5 oriented area. And I also found a couple of access points to the "tunnel system" - kind of an underground Houston - shops, restaurants, etc. Again, however, most of them are only open during office hours - even the underground closes at 7:00p.m. -OH! But the major find today was the Krispy Kreme about three blocks from the theatre!
But the major "news" of the day was the rescheduling of Monday's schedule. Originally, Monday was going to consist of a "Daylight Day of Rest", followed by a rehearsal from 7:00-Midnight. However, since we are now moving into the theatre tomorrow afternoon, the whole company will now be off all day - and night - on Monday. Which is great news for myself and the conductor since our Sunday will be VERY long - Orchestra rehearsal from 9:00am-1:00pm, then rehearsal from 1:00pm-Midnight (with a dinner break) (that actors come in at Noon). However, any way you slice it, it will be a long day, and it will now be very nice to have a full day off after that. Whew!
Well... I need to get some sleep now...
Goodnight.
