So, DR Ginny, did you encounter anyone from the Packard Humanities Institute?

DR Elmore, I think they had an exhibit at ALA, but I won't know for sure until FedEx delivers my big box o' swag.  I included in that shipment the 350-page program book with the exhibit directory in the back.

I do remember seeing a nice Packard appreciation wall at Monterey Bay Aquarium.

I think the Packard Appreciation Wall at the Aquarium is for

The David and Lucile Packard Foundation

which is different from the

Packard Humanities Institute

The Packard Foundation is a very big and long time supporter of the Aquarium.

Monterey Bay Aquarium

The Packard Humanities Institute (PHI) doesn't give grants to organizations such as the Aquarium. It's an "operating foundation" a distinction not easy to define to the layman but essentially it means that Operating Foundations choose what they do and are most often "non-grantmaking" organizations. PHI focuses on archaeology, music, film preservation, historic conservation, and early education. The work Larry has done for them is not "grant" related. It's one of their many projects over the years. If they choose to make a grant it will be to a "pre-selected" organization. They do not solicit grant proposals or applications.

I've been to the theatre to get our tickets for tomorrow's movie, stopped at Barnes & Noble to see if Val wanted to have dinner after work - she does - and the bank for some cash.  All is good so far.

So, knock me over.  Office depot just arrived and carted away the damaged table.

Good news, Larry!

Fed Ex just arrived!  The packages are off to Ohio, and all is apparently good at 202 west 82!

Very good news!

Back from doing stuff.  Rehearsal in thirty minutes and hopefully it will be smoother than yesterday's.

I'm told that some parts of LA had "rain" yesterday.  Call me a Doubting BK - no rain here, not one drop, and perhaps what people mistook as "rain" was moisture.

It's an odd day.

First day of the new Fiscal Year.

I have added money to all our monthly purchase orders.

I have created a contract and requisitioned a purchase order against it for furniture.

Against that same contract, I have requisitioned a purchase order for labor to install the furniture.

Different purchase orders coming out of different departments all because of the cost of the labor.  Anything over $25,000 in labor costs has to be approved by our Board of Supervisors and the purchase order must be issued by the Auditor-Controller's office.

Isn't my work simply fascinating?

The book is now out of print so I'm glad I purchased it new.

Wow. Amazon tells me that I purchased this book in February, 2007. I wonder where it is.

I received specialized training today on how certain aspects of the Affordable Care Act pertain to American Indians and Alaskan Natives.

It was interesting. And, they fed us lunch!

AND, a group performed authentic Native American songs for us!

I am back from dinner with Val.  I can't believe we've been friends for nearly 15 or so years.  It seems that I've known her forever.
