Richard, Rob, and I had a nice visit with Perry and Pam. As planned, I called Mom to tell her that the cousins and I were about to leave here to visit with her. It was no surprise to me when she, tearfully, told me that she just isn't up to company today. Next time I see her, she'll probably be complaining because no one ever visits her

I'm up, I'm up. I was up until four in the morning, finally fell asleep, and then came a knock on the door at eight-thirty - a tree worker asking me if that was my car parked in front of my house. I said, "No, all the cars in front of my house belong to the selfish people across the street so go wake them up." I went back to bed and slept another hour and a half - so maybe I got six hours of sleep. Maybe.

I was actually in bed and ready to sleep by two. And then my brain began to have ideas - I've been trying to write a new What If for our anniversary show in September. I had one idea I was working on but wasn't in love with, but something came to me last night that just made me laugh, so I got up and started writing it. And kept on until I was eighty-percent through. I picked an extremely complicated thing to do and as you know I have to be true to the form of the song I'm parodying and in this case it's as hard as any I've done, but I think it's pretty clever and it's certainly out there. I'll finish when I'm back from eating.

TOD:I don't see a lot of movies, but "Lost in Translation" bored me to tears. "Crash" was incredibly disappointing, but there was enough in the visuals to hold some of my interest.

According to IMDB, "Grand Hotel" was based on William Drake's English version of the play. The Greer Garson-Laurence Olivier version of "Pride & Prejudice" is based on Helen Jerome's Broadway play, not the Austen novel. I believe "First Impressions" is credited to Jerome's play as well.

Yeah, the play provided the framework, even if it cut the characters of Mary and Kitty Bennett. Guess that cut costs and any attempt to have to explain who they were.

Well, I'm feeling, sadly, that I'm right about the Annette Funicello home - it's empty, vandals have been spray painting graffiti on the windows - all the foliage is gone now and I just Googled and found that it sold last June for 900,000 bucks (a 1400 square foot two-bedroom house!). That may have been an auction price because there was NEVER a for sale sign on the house at any time. So, I fear the heavy equipment will be showing up and a classic and unique Studio City home will bite the dust and be replaced by a monstrosity.

The DH's cabaret concert yesterday was extremely well received. It was in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the local summer theatre program. The hall seats just over 500, and there were well over 300 in attendance.
