Because of the radiation treatment a lot of my teeth were basically destroyed. I have been stalling the inevitable but it looks as if I am going to have to have several removed

We have to discuss options for replacements.

Good morning, all! I did not get to bed before midnight so I slept in and got out of bed around 8:15.  My morning will be spent waiting on a phone call from an old freind in Middletown, OH, who is in Manhattan this weekend.

I once judged a mac and cheese bake-off. Here's one of the fancier versions:

As to my offer of speaking, I am holding off making a decision until I've spoken to the people in charge; I know it's tied in with a production of Sondheim On Sondheim, so I want to know what topics they and i think are something I know anything about pertaining to Mr Sondheim beyond the Pulitzer Prize. Perhaps I could talk about diminishing Broadway pit orchestras..

As to the logistics of my accepting, I probably need to purchase a new suit, I have no money to my name for traveling for a week - car rental, living expenses; maybe i need an Indiegogo campaign?

Speaking of diminishing pit bands, I've been listening a lot to the 1985 London cast of Gigi, and I love it; I would rather see this than that dreadful "politically correct" abortion that just closed on Broadway. Hardly anyone in the cast can carry a tune, but the cast is so right - Jean Pierre Aumont, Sian Philips, Beryl Reid - and the chamber orchestration is really beautiful.

I also need to talk to Howard Pollack this weekend.  He's written very good bios of Gershwin, Copland, and Marc Blitzstein.  He's now writing one of John Latouche and we need to discuss The Golden Apple.

BK, even though I feel your pain and occasional gnashing of teeth in the daily notes, I do enjoy them and look forward every day to what fails you, ails you, perks you up, picks you up, and just plain catches your interest.

I think i must be misunderstanding something about what the parents are thinking of.

I am guessing that most guests at Bar Mitzvahs give cash.  So if Sami's mom gave cash to every one Sami went to that would be a lot of money she's given to these various people.

Today I am going to go Greenwise (Similar to Whole Foods, but operated by the food chain Publix) to do some food shopping. It has been an eye opener to discover how many products have wheat in them. It's going to be a journey.
