I agree with what DR FJL and DR RLP posted about the judges' comments on PR last week.

Yes, Pistachio must go.

Her sketch didn't look too bad, but the finished garment was horrific!  And Tim loved the losing designer's look, and other contestants said good things as well.....

Hi everyone! Today is the first day since surgery that I fell pretty close to 100%. I still have twinges and vague pains, which I hope are healing pains, around the areas where extra mesh was placed. Not every food is agreeing with me yet, so my viscera are not fully recovered from all that poking and prodding. After all it was a lengthy surgery (almost 3x as long as was planned) and a 3x as long hospital stay. I'm no longer taking any meds, which I dislike taking anyway. I still need to take dumb loratadine (Claritin) otherwise I have sneezing attacks here in the hot, dry desert.

I'm happy to feel up to be back here with all'a'youse (for those back East).

I've been trying to take care of cleaning and laundry and errands a little at a time, so that I won't have much to do come the two eye surgeries. The doctor told me I'll be able to drive the next day, but I question that. I think he was forgetting that we're correcting my vision to my reading Rx, not my distance Rx. I would not want to drive wearing my reading glasses. As it takes about a month for one's eyes to stabilize, and about two weeks for new glasses to arrive, I could have a lengthy period without driving. I like to stock up anyway and I'm trying to cover all the bases.

A food that Mr Pulliam doesn't like?  ;)

TOD:

Since moving out here, I'm a bit suspicious of the sushi because we are geographically land-locked and far away from fresh seafood. Much of the "fresh" seafood here is at best flash frozen, but is more commonly thawed, unless of course one is able to afford the tonier restaurants which have seafood flown in. For commoners like me, most seafood in the supermarkets (even the upscale ones like Whole Paycheck) smells fishy, which of course is a sign that the seafood is not really fresh, maybe not bad, but I won't eat it. I'm no cat.

TOD: (Part II)

When I lived in NY, I ate a lot of fish anyway, so sushi was a natural next step. So was ceviche which is a similar idea since the fish isn't really cooked in a traditional sense.

I ate too much sushi though and was advised to cut back due to the build up of mercury possible in the fat deposits which is where the body stores it.

I usually ate all sushi except for anything that looked creepy crawly, tentacly, or could look back at me. So, pretty much tuna and salmon. Eel isn't bad though. I just have to forget what it is. Still can't bring myself to eat octopus suction cups.

TCB, I'm sorry to hear about your potential afib incident. I was having a lot of trouble last year with a racing heart and was diagnosed as pre-afib. I know of folks who are able to keep their afib under control with medication. I don't take drugs for mine; for me, magnesium and potassium keep my heart rate where it should be.

I purchased an Omron blood pressure monitor, wrist-style, which is easy to use and very convenient (about $35 on Amazon). It doesn't actually detect the afib (an EKG does that), but the cardiologists don't seem concerned. I like to know that both my blood pressure and heart rate are in the normal range.

When I asked the head of cardiology what to do when these incidents occur, he told me to drink a glass of water and eat some high-potassium foods. I agree that both help. As my incidents usually occur in the middle of the night, I keep a glass of water and some potassium capsules next to my bed, along with magnesium capsules. Magnesium quiets my heart within minutes.

Vibes you have no more trouble with this!

DR DanM is back! That's good to see.

I have been to midtown, dropped off my commission, got my check and got back on a bus and came home.  I have a couple of Netflix items, and i may watch a movie tonight.  I forget what they are.  I finished Season 2 of FOYLE'S WAR last night.

;D

We have had vegetarian sushi that was pretty good.

A Japanese restaurant in Ashland made delicious eggplant rolls.
