I had one strange dream I remember vaguely.  I really do not know if I was a little boy or little girl in this dream, but there were charges of molestation against an adult friend that I knew were false. The person in charge of the legal case was Jim Ashcraft, the manager my workplace, Office Outfitters, between 1973 and 1977. So, a lady and I began a drive into Pennsylvania to defend the adult before the police could arrest him.  I woke wjen our drive was tracked down by the police.

My other dream was about working at the Drama Book Shop. I helped a Russian lady wearing a floor length red cape.

TOD

As a kid I worshipped Anne Bancroft, starting with THE MIRACLE WORKER.  The next huge thing for me was THE GRADUATE.  From those two films alone, I thought she was the most special actress ever.  There was a beauty and magic about her that no one else approached.

I recently watched THE MIRACLE WORKER for the first time in years, and I do not exaggerate when I say I was transported back to the magic of 1962 -- for all of the reasons, of course, but she was the center.

Looking over her filmography, there's a lot I missed, and I'm impressed with the decade of work she did in the 1950s.  Next landmarks would be THE HINDENBURG and THE ELEPHANT MAN, and then 84 CHARING CROSS ROAD which I never saw until just a few years ago.  And who better to fill that role?  Nobody, that's who.

I do remember, very vaguely, seeing GARBO SPEAKS back in the day, bnd indeed being kind of bored by the movie.  Now, reading BK's notes on it, I would appreciate it a thousandfold, so something shall have to be done about that.

I thought that this was a very cool storage idea:

I think so, beats getting the step stool all the time.  I wonder how easy it is to pull the steps out once the shelves are full.

If you had not included Charing Cross Road I was going to suggest you watch it.

All that in the way of prefacing the fact that a pot of hazelnut decaf is brewing right this minute and it smells wonderful

Jane will not be over to share a cup of that. Right, Jane?

TOD:

In addition to the films already mentioned, I loved Bancroft's turn as a crazier than usual Miss Haversham in Great Expectations and her fine comic turn in To Be or Not to Be.

For anyone who has seen, and loved, "84 Charing Cross Road", but you have not read the book:  READ THE BOOK!

Over the years hazelnuts have slipped into many foods and a bite has been taken before I realized it.  As a result I have developed somewhat of  a resistance.  If I actually liked them I expect I could/should slowly increase my reaction to them by eating some bites.  It worked with almonds, walnuts, and other foods I had problems with.

Good catch.  She's great in Silent Movie, too, but To Be or Not to Be is clearly a winner for her.

DR Elmore, what a generous gift from your good friends!  How did that work - did they deliver a huge gift-wrapped package or will you go to the Apple Store to shop with one or all of them?
