Well, you've read the notes, the notes were Spartacus, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - they're Spartacus, too.

That sounds like a really interesting play, DR George! Looking forward to your full report.

Very interesting notes today, bk. I don't know much about film, but I certainly enjoy reading about it.

I will spend today at Randy & Jo's working on tonight's presentation.  I have the gist of it, but I need to prepare a few more note cards and try to run though what I think I will say.

Yesterday at Wright State I had a wonderful session with the musical theatre history class on orchestration and arranging. We listened to Twiggy's "Dancing on the Ceiling" and I praised BK for his monaural 78 to stereophonic bloom idea for the song, why the arrangement was so 20s dance band inspired, etc.  we also listened to Kim Criswell's  "The Boyfriend Back Home" as an example of period recreation based on what clues you've got to work from.  There were lots of questions and I liked the interaction between me and around 20 students.

Then I went to a song preparation class; there were two singers ion the hour: a girl who sang a very dark song about serial killing and erotic compulsion called "Circus" (I think) and a boy who sang "Joanna" from Sweeney Todd.  They both took direction very well, although the boy was amazing at his speed in selecting things he was offered when he sang the number again.  That really impressed me.

After lunch, I drove home. Then I spent my evening with DR Ginny, Richard, Rob, and Mary Linda. We had Shaddock's pizza, which iI love, and it was a lovely visit.  My drive home was shaky because it's too dark in the country and I completely missed Randy's house. I finally got home and went straight to bed.

BK, your name was mentioned several times.  I gave the students some of your CDs: Rebecca Luker, Jason Graae, Liz Callaway, Unsung, and Lost In . . .

RE: SPARTACUS

I recall John Ireland telling me that his role in the film was originally supposed to be a two week job.  He was supposed to be killed when Spartacus and the gladiators broke out of the gladiator school.

But, Kirk Douglas liked John and he insisted on keeping him on the film until the final big battle scene.

How's that for an unimportant film fact?

The best of vibes for DR ELMORE on his presentation tonight....I am sure all of the students you have already met will be there for you!

Maybe Randy needs a reflector on his mailbox.

I like SPARTACUS, but I am sure that I haven't seen it as it should be seen.  I think I had/have the restored video, but haven't watched it all the way through.

My question for ASK BK DAY:

Have you signed up for Medicare yet?  You could save some money!!!  And you get some of your health care costs covered.  You paid for it.  Get it!
