Jane, there is also a Courtyard by Marriott in downtown Tacoma.  I believe it is only a few years old.

I gotta tell you.  Certainly this is one of the oddest birthdays I've ever had.  Not bad at all, but other than a couple of calls, not a peep out of any of my LA friends.  Wacky.  On Facebook, however, I was a hit with close to 850 birthday wishes.

And now, I'm off to a Theater Artists Olympia board meeting.  I know that I shall not be bored with my board...we have many things to discuss.

Until later!

I'm home and have eaten and am now watching TV.  Our board meeting went three, count 'em THREE, hours! :o

We got through a lot of things and made some decisions and finalized things, so it was not useless...it just took a longer time than anyone expected.

I drove a couple of board members home, so that took a bit of time, but now I'm ready for TV watching in bed.

Downtown Tacoma has gone thru a major Renaissance in the last fifteen years or so.  They did away with the skid row areas and built a convention center, new museums, hotels, and upscale restaurants.  They also built the Tacoma campus of the University of Washington in downtown.  It is not a perfect place yet, but it is much nicer than it used to be.

We now have the world's largest automobile museum in downtown Tacoma.

They are in the process of finishing a second Silver Cloud Inn on the waterfront.  This one is at the opposite end of Ruston Way.

You must have been watching TV.

That, too.  I just finished watching the second of two episodes of "The Last Man on Earth."
