As a kid, MAD Magazine, Humbug, Sick, and every issue of Famous Monsters up until about 1964.  Later, TV Guide - every week, week in, week out.  Then, in the 70s, I became a regular reader of Time and Newsweek, the New Yorker (all thanks to one of those subscription things so popular back then), then also became a regular reader of Sight and Sound, Films in Review, Films and Filming, The Velvet Light Trap and other film magazines, always bought at the Las Palmas newsstand, then Gramophone and a few stereo equipment magazines.  When laserdiscs came in, The LaserDisc Newsletter.  Then much later, genre magazines like Scarlet Street, The Little Shop of Horrors, several mags about Hammer, G Fan (Godzilla), and others of that ilk.  I have complete runs on many of these, all bound.

Oh, and Fanfare, too.  Used to enjoy that pretentious magazine.

I'm back from New Jersey.  Traffic was really not bad, except for the entrance to the Lincoln Tunnel on the way back.

And of course, once the shuttle bus got into NYC, traffic was even worse.

The restaurant we'd wanted to go to was very crowded, plus unaccountably was insisting on only valet parking.  I don't quite get why people should happily give up their keys for a few hours when they can easily find their own parking spaces in the lot.

So we went to an old reliable, the River View Diner, which was really nice.

And I am enjoying a toasted onion bagel with cream cheese sausages with HP sauce and tea with honey and lemon

Vixmom (or anyone), what is HP sauce?

http://www.englishteastore.com/hpsauce255g.html?gclid=CJqfpZKP_ckCFQEoHwodtfAP6g

Thanks for the info, Vixmom.  I was wondring what "HP" stood for and it's the brand name, not a kind of sauce.

In high school, I used to get the New Yorker, then New York. I got Show Music and the Sondheim Review. Now I get Bon Appetit, Food and Wine and Cook's Illustrated.

Oh man, I've read so many magazines over the years I wouldn't know where to start.  I go in cycles depending on my current interests.  Right now I mostly get stuff for the waiting room HGTV, FOOD, Time, People, People en Espanol, Smithsonian, Health.  Sort of covers everyone

I really should go to the store.  I went earlier, but I'd like to get the stuff to do the ice cream and I need to make sure I have gas and oil for the snow blower.

We'll probably watch Hopscotch later.

And I thought watching curling was a boring sport!

Famous Monsters and MAD Magazine as a kid.  TV Guide off and on, and someone in the family was always giving me National Geographic.  The occasional film magazine, but it depended on what I was interested in in the issue:  Films in Review -- oh man, I don't remember now, maybe Sight and Sound, some horror stuff like Castle of Frankenstein and Cinefantastique.  Much later, discovered Little Shop of Horrors and Cinema Retro which I love buying now.

Saturday Review, then The New Yorker off and on through the years (yes, the subscription deals were un**believable), and New York.  High Fidelity, Stereo Review, Audio, The Absolute Sound, the occasional Stereophile and the short-lived Sounds Like...  The Laser Disc Newsletter for a while, and The Perfect Vision.  A musical one called Ovation.  A few Sondheim Reviews, and the Bernstein one - Prelude Fugue & Riffs which I'm still getting.  For a short time, book stuff like Biblio, Firsts, and the entire run of a zine called Modern Library Collector.

And yes, in the Hollywood years, the Las Palmas and Cahuenga newsstands.  And another one down on -- I forget, Robertson Blvd.?  And one on Fairfax near Farmer's Market.  On visits to the Valley, one on (Van Nuys?).  A stop at any one of these was a special experience.  Of course, the better book stores had, and some still have, great magazine sections.  These can be good, but they're not the same thing.  Tower Books in NYC, may it R.I.P., had a great one.

I didn't answer this in an orderly fashion at all, and am not even sticking to the question because many of what I listed were not a "religious" thing.  And yet, it all meant that, if you know what I mean!  I can only wish I'd kept it all like BK did.  :)

As a child I read Jack and Jill, Golden Magazine and a kids version of National Geographic---- (Explorer maybe it was called?)  My parents took Life  and Look  and National Geographic and McCalls (which I loved because of the Betsy McCall paper dolls in each issue)

when I was a young teen I read 16 magazine--- to get my pinups of Donny Osmond and Bobby Sherman

when I was in my 20s I started taking Smithsonian and Natural History, Readers Digest, National Geographic, Analog and Asimov's

As we started getting buried under magazines we gave up everything except Asimov's and Analog

and now I get AARP  and AAA magazines every month as well but those were  side benefits of membership  rather than  planned subscriptions

Watched The Brain that Would Not Die, then some Lucy episodes - kept dozing off and having to go back - I think at one point I slept for almost ninety minutes.

I've been dozing off in my reading both yesterday and today.  I wouldn't have discovered this on my own, but someone pointed me to it and I'm really enjoying it:

How Music Got Free: The End of an Industry, the Turn of the Century, and the Patient Zero of Piracy.

Well, car full of gas, snowblower full of gas, extra gas and oil for snowblower in garage,  I went to the grocery store and got everything I need to make butter pecan ice cream.  I mixed it all up and toasted the pecans. It's chilling overnight and I'll make it tomorrow.  Looks like we may be down to 6 inches of snow with 35 mph winds, but that's still pretty nasty.
