Oh, I forgot:  In my CD player at work:  the National Youth Music Theatre production cast recording of Bugsy Malone.  I just got the movie soundtrack from England a couple of weeks ago.  That'll be next.

After those will be Nellie McKay (pronounced "mi-KAI").  She's a very good performer and writes all of her own stuff.  And she's only 19 years old!  AND she lived here in Olympia for a year!

Then will be The Manhattan Transfer's brand new CD Vibrate.  The opinions on TMT's newsgroup are varied (some love it, some like it and quite a few don't like it at all).  I really like it.  I don't love it...yet, but I think I eventually will.  I always do. :)

Meanwhile, back at the farm!

(www.playbill.com by Andrew Gans)
Julie Andrews to Receive Lifetime Achievement Award
The Hollywood union publicists have chosen Academy Award winner Julie Andrews to receive their Lifetime Achievement Award.

Variety reports that Andrews was tapped for the honor for her career in film, television and theatre. The beloved actress, who recently hosted PBS' "Broadway: The American Musical" series, will be presented with the award Feb. 22, 2005, at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. The awards presentation is part of the International Cinematographers Guild's 42nd annual Publicists Awards Luncheon.

Henry Bollinger, the chairman of the awards committee, told the industry paper, "Few performers have achieved her level of success in one of these fields much less in all three. What's more, she appreciates more than most the importance of promoting the projects in which she appears."

Julie Andrews — who was born in Surrey, England — starred on Broadway in the original productions of The Boyfriend, My Fair Lady and Camelot, the stage version of Victor/Victoria, and in the Off Broadway Stephen Sondheim revue, Putting It Together. She won an Academy Award for her work in "Mary Poppins" and Oscar nominations for "The Sound of Music" and "Victor/Victoria."

Julie has also won an Emmy, a Grammy, and five Golden Globes. Only the Tony eludes her,and if the Tony Governing Board had ANY sense in their collective heads, she'd be granted an honorary award

I doubt this will happen after she removed herself from the list of nominees during the VICTOR/VICTORIA brouhaha.  It would be nice, but I don't see it happening.

Expo has a lovely selection of rugs, often at good price.  There's one in Westwood, I believe, in the old Bullock's building.

Ikea carries reasonably priced rugs, too, though a lot of their selection consists of not very attractive machine-made polyester rugs.  They do have some nice hand-made wool ones, though, last time I checked.

My favorite of the Ikea-carried rugs was the one that looked like a test pattern for Technicolor...all those squares of saturated color....

Yum....

In fact, he's (as well as the rest of us) EVERY kind!  DR Ben and I should know!  Well, I after having spent a lovely Saturday evening dining with him (and Ben)!

Who needs a Media Check whilst waiting for more lovely photos to appear from the European front?

Finally, I can put a face to DR francois' face!  Tres Gallic!

but, in the cd player are the three compiliation discs put out by Verve:  ELLA FITZGERALD:  THE BEST OF THE SONGBOOKS.
in the dvd player:  PBS' BROADWAY, of which I have just watched the two bonus features devoted to WICKED.  At last, I have heard the former Fieryo song which was replaced with "Dancing Through Life."

I like your couch BK!

I just mopped the floor in the living room so I am currently trapped in the back of the house until it dries.
