Good morning, all! I had this long dream about a musical one-act I music directed in grad school.  It's one of the few projects I worked on for which I have next to no memories.  I couldn't tell you anyone in the cast besides the leading lady; I remember nothing about the band, rehearsals, or performances.

the dream clarified nothing.

I have few plans today.  I think I will begin my final round of printing the 2015 invoices I need for my taxes. That will take much of the day.  Yesterday, I typed up the fixes for No. 2, "In the sunny Old South," in the Moross score and emailed the first two sets of corrections to my copyist Scott.  If I have the tme, I'll type up the fixes for No. 3.

I am hoping that tomorrow I have some work at City Center.

Continued Dodging the Bullet vibes to MR BK.

I didn't see MR BK's post until this morning.....

Leo DeCaprio won best actor for Revenant, Spotlight won for ensemble cast, Brie Larson won best actress for The Room, Downton Abbey won for television drama ensemble cast.....

It was a pretty low-key affair, but no one except Michael Keaton really said anything "political" or "controversial."

Somebody who claimed to be Carol Burnett won a Lifetime Achievement Award.

Here's a story with ALL the winners listed.

I loved Carol Burnett at the SAG Awards last night.  Tina and Amy did a great intro. Usually I find the intros and speeches so boring. But both were so interesting. I usually cannot wait to move on to more awards. But Carol's speech went by so fast. They are all so funny.

The first dream was an absolute classic, a typical musician's nightmare.  Our show (whatever it was) would have a late start due to one of my band members being late.  (This would be derived from a real incident seven years ago, when our cellist for A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC had a long commute from an earlier gig.  That was known and planned in advance and not a problem.)

This was NOT a good situation.  Theater management was pissed, and I ended up disappearing to God knows where in the meantime and panicking about getting back in time to salvage the performance.  Miraculously, everyone - audience included - was still there a full hour after curtain time, and presumably the show went on, but by then I was on my way to other stupid dreams.

The others were all kind of related.  They all involved, in one way or another, the Newtown/Sandy Hook area (which is twenty minutes from me).  In one, I was using a fancy wall-sized image of Google Maps or something to show some people how to get from somewhere near here to a certain point over there in Newtown, on a route that would necessitate jumping from one road to another.  (There's never a straight line path from one point in Connecticut to another, that much is real!)

In another, I was the one driving over there, and since I had just found the place (whatever it was), I decided to take the opportunity to check it out before heading back home.  The place was now a large multi-acre state park or some such, but a quiet area, as it was now a convent.  The geography of it was lovely, typical woodsy and hilly Connecticut.  I was exploring the private roads through there and in this one area which was a cemetery I had to make a turn because the road dead ended at this open barn-like structure.  I then I found I wasn't alone and undetected, because several of the sisters were working in there on their projects or chores.  I made nice with the small talk, chatting with them to assure them I meant no harm or anything.

Realized after I was awake that this would be based on the actual place, Abbey of Regina Laudis, another half hour or so from where the dream was placing it, where "Mother Dolores Hart" resides and does some occasional acting.  I never have gotten up there to see anything, to my regret.

The barn thing was based on a memory of being at a friend's large place in nearby Roxbury where, during a couple of Christmas seasons around fifteen years ago, another friend and I had helped with the weekend operations of these people's tree farm.  I even learned how to drive a large tractor, if you can imagine that -- me toting people around to choose and cut their Christmas trees and haul them back to the barn.  (I know this sounds indistinguishable from another dream.  But it's real, man.  I wonder if any photographic evidence exists.)

I totally agree that THE WRONG MAN is top drawer Hitchcock.

It's too bad that the world wants to pigeonhole and typecast everyone.  Silly world.  This is a masterful piece of movie making.
