Happy birthday, dear DR George!

And they say it's good luck to hit a HHW milestone on your birthday - you're so close to 56,000!!!

Good morning, all!  I got about 10 hours of sleep last night, and that was fantastic.

Yesterday was a good day but by the time I left City Center around 2:30, i was mentally exhausted.  It took me about 40 minutes to get to 42nd and 9th Avenue for the Wright State students.  It's interesting to hear what they chose for audition material and how they present themselves after seeing them in class.

There was oe poor decision by a young lady who went for a grungey look: I spent more time looking at the hole in her leggings - at the knee - than it watching her.

So, after that, I spoke to a few and congratulated them, then walked to 41st and 8th Avenue for the 104 bus.

I did have one unsettling dream that woke me around 2:00am, but I remember next to nothing of it now.

Around 930, I will head down to City Center asnd see if Joshie has any work to be done.  I think that we may be in good shape at the moment.  If not, I'll come home and see what fresh hell turns up here.

No weird dreams, at least.

I've had those, like vixmom's, too many times.

Tonight, In the Heights at the local high school.  Never seen any of their productions, so this will be most interesting.

I love probing the sitz.  There, I've said it.  Now you know.  It's good to have it off my chest.

A couple of the regional theaters here combine the first orchestra reading with the sitzprobe, so you have actors running in and out and trying this and that number, and in the meantime the band just isn't up to snuff.  In the end, you get neither a good orchestra rehearsal nor good sitzprobe.  This was the case with the likes of Ragtime and Assassins, which is ridiculous.  There's nothing like getting a good band rehearsal in, and then probing that darn sitz.  Even doing the one right after the other with a short break in between is better.

Last night I did okay on my song!  Or so I was told.  I did ask the music director to record just my part on my phone so I could listen to the notes - I just can't hear them on the CD since two people are singing at the same time throughout most of it.

It's not much a song anyway!

Hmmmm.....TOD:

Company.  Listening to the Cast Album for the first time was such an experience, I think seeing and hearing it live would have been an even greater experience.

Off to put  on clothes before going to work

Repeat out loud if necessary.

Important to do things in the correct order.  One foot after the other.

1956 CANDIDE, great score and fantastic orchestrations by Hershy Kay.

1971 FOLLIES or 1979 SWEENEY TODD, Sondheim's best scores and Tunick's greatest orchestrations.

I'm lazy today.  DR Elmore's answers are worth copying.  I'll toss WEST SIDE STORY into the mix.

Last night I dreamed of Villa Bougainvillea, the toponym of my house on Lago Patria north of Naples, Italy.

It's one of the most magical places I've ever experienced.  Love it - and my memories of it - to this day.

Today is May 5th, 2016.

Today is "Cinco de Mayo" everywhere.

Cinco do Mayo is the "theme" of GSA's Employee Appreciation Day.
