Finished Benjamin Kritzer last night, BK. Enjoyed it very much. We had some childhood parallels, from the brown living room to the desire for a transistor radio to help shut out the noise of those around me.

Got a chance to listen to The Sailor Who Fell from Grace with the Sea. I can't remember if I ever saw the movie, but I do remember reading the book.

The atmospheric moodiness of the music is just wonderful.

I think her secret was rather than make a top crust of corn meal, she blended the corn meal into the casserole, and then topped it with lots of cheddar cheese.

I remember the one time that she grabbed the wrong can of olives and made it with the pits still in the olives.

My mom was a single parent raising the two kids on a teacher's salary.
