Tonight is the big season finale -- and Tony Dinozzo's farewell -- to "NCIS". For me, this season has been a disappointment. Last week's episode (part 1 of 2) only partially pleased me (it sort of caught fire toward the end). I'll definitely watch this episode, but they're going to have to resurrect my interest in the show by doing it really well rather than the by-the-numbers and not-so-interesting approach that seems to have been the past season.
I could be way off base on this, but I'm more inclined to discontinue watching after having been fully onboard with the show for many seasons. I haven't really enjoyed the character played by Emily Wickersham. She's perfectly fine and does the part well, but there's not really any chemistry with any of the other characters (including Gibbs, with whom the writers seem to be trying to create a special bond toward her).
Cote de Pablo was impossible to replace, apparently. Her character of Ziva was mysterious, dangerous, funny and sexy. That's an awesome combination and it has been missed. Before Ziva, there was Kate and she had her own strengths. This newer character (whose name, other than the actress's name, always eludes me) doesn't have any of the qualities of the previous two. That could be, and may yet become, a good thing.
But...with Tony leaving and only Tim and Abby and Ducky and Jimmy left behind with Gibbs, I'm not feeling it.
