Thank you for the Crete jokes. I just hope I don't have to be petite to go to Crete or meet on a street in Crete.

Reminds me of a great line from Sheldon Harnick's Medea in Disneyland: "And I'm just the Cretan to do it ..."

Malik lives in Austin and filmed his latest, Weightless, there with a huge cast including Ryan Gosling, Cate Blanchett, Natalie Portman, Patti Smith and plenty of local musicians.

I will see it because it gave my friend Deborah her first two IMDb credits, as a restaurant patron and as a casting assistant. The movie opened in London last Friday, which was her birthday.

I'd certainly see it for all of those reasons, too.  Be sure to give us a full report, DR John G.

Not a good morning here.  I fear that my colleagues and I on Moonshine and Mistletoe are being jerked around, and I don't like that.

Well, I've taken a week off from being productive in the music department.  I need to go downstairs and change that.

Had a sort of half-arsed dream about the upcoming GYPSY last night.  What I actually need to do in that regard is work on the iPad to get my ForScore annotation skills and my pedal page-turning sharpened up.  This is going to be my debut playing from the iPad, and it could turn out to be quite the clusterf**k if I'm not fairly practiced at it.

I want to use the expression (volume) pedal on this one as well, so I'll have four - count 'em - pedals to cope with:

Regular sustain pedal
Volume pedal
Patch switch pedal
AirTurn page-turning pedals (set of two, for forward and backward)

Whatever happened to the days of playing a regular old piano in a pit?

Not that that rhetorical question applies to the project at hand, since I'm playing a string reduction.  But, you know...

Leo (and Ben) came to Xanadu callbacks with me and slept through the entire thing.  It was a long day.  The drive to pick up Leo was about 3+hours, and coming home was a little more.  Now it's time to start working on a routine.

Other than that, it's business as usual.

I received my free DVD/Blu-ray copies of the UK release of THE HOUND OF THE BASKERVILLES yesterday.

Now, if I only had an all-region player, I could watch my on-camera interview.

 :(

Is that a recently done interview, DR Druxy?  It's not on the US Blu-ray set from several years ago, is it?

I did it about 3 months ago.  They sent a cameraman/interviewer to my home.

Unfortunately, the disc is only available in the UK.

But, they paid me well.

I have all I can do to handle three pedals when I "play" DR CHAS SMITH....it is quite entertaining to watch I am sure.....which is why I rarely play....in public.

BTW thanks for asking.....I will be assaying the leading role of NY representative Lewis Morris....courteously.....  There are a limited number of microphones, and my opinion is that I will be performing without one.

I will just have to sing louder.

I'm so angry right now I could explode.  I'm so careful about these spoof e-mails and even though some are convincing I haven't fallen for one of them in over a decade.  This morning, going through my e-mails I have one saying someone tried to log in to iTunes ordering a book and if it wasn't me to click the link.  Now, I'd JUST gotten one of these yesterday because I'd logged in via my iPad and they always alert you when that happens from a device you haven't used.

So, like a complete moron I ignored everything they always tell you and clicked through, where I was presented with an absolutely authentic looking Apple page to enter all my info.  And like an even bigger moron, and because I'm still groggy, I actually start to do it, starting with my iTunes user name and password.  I get as far as social security number when my brain finally clicked in and I stopped instantly, erased everything else and got the hell out of there - I was literally about fifteen seconds from pressing the send button.  I instantly cleared my cache and my history, and am hoping that the page itself contained nothing harmful, but I don't know how to tell that.  But unless they were on the page with me because I clicked it, and they were following along, they didn't get the social, but did get the address, date of birth, etc.  I'm changing my Apple ID password right now.

Well, I have to get out of here soon to go to my consultation for everybody's favorite procedure:
a colonoscopy later this summer.  I'm late on this one due to having such a horrible insurance coverage prior to jumping aboard Medicare and a supplemental plan.

I have to get one also.  I have just been procrastinating on the scheduling of it.
