My car needed fixing, and it's done .  So I have to drive the rental car to go get my car.   Maybe I'll get doughnuts, too!

Well, over the past two hours I've eaten a breakfast consisting of cookies.

But if you sat a couple of doughnuts down in front of me, I could forget about those cookies soon enough.

TOD:
I like anything with chocolate. I also like jelly-filled donuts. I prefer raised donuts over cake ones. I also like crullers and the old-fashioned type. My least favorite is maple.

I liked cream filled donuts.....and donuts with nuts.....but it has been awhile since I had either.

Now mostly I buy donut holes from WalMart.

I am home from the library and thoroughly pissed off.  When I missed my opportunity to visit Special Collections yesterday,  I checked the website about their hours today. The information told me it was open today from 10:30. Imagine my surprise when I got there this morning to find it closed until July 5.

I see that today's website has different information and they are closed.  Why the fat hell was it different yesterday?

Donuts..... I'm always up for trying new types of donuts, but my stomach always says "Why do you bother?"... so it has to be good, or I just don't.

Every time I was in Ontario CA for a meeting, I would visit Miss Donuts and bring a donut home for my daughter. Sometimes they got squashed in my carry-on bag.  I'm not sure I ever ate one myself.

TOD - Not many donuts on my diet anymore, but I do love a lemon-filled topped with powdered sugar.  Or a fried Danish from Central Pastry here in Middletown.

Should be safe - most of the librarians have cleared out by now...

Just back from an endless morning - was up at eight-thirty after six hours of sleep - called the car detailer who was just too booked up and couldn't get to me until Monday.  So, I immediately went to the NoHo car wash, and since I hadn't had it washed in over five months I had them do what the detailer would have done - a complete detailing inside and out and they did an amazing job and I'm sure it was cheaper than the other person would have been.  The car looks brand new - it took two hours.  Then one of my back tires looked low, so I put air in all four just to be safe then went to a garage and they said the back two need to be replaced soon but are okay for now - so I'll do that on Tuesday just to get it out of the way.

"Fugue for Tin Horns" is proofed, with only one error and it was in the original full score and parts.

Since i didn't get to the NTYPL, I will hold off on "Follow the Fold" until after I see the phot files, and proceed now to "The Oldest Established Floating Crap Game."

I don't blame you at all for being upset. People just don't update their websites. They're often heavy on the ads and promotions and light on meaningful and up-to-date information. Most annoying.

I stopped eating donuts in my early twenties when I "converted" to a healthier diet. I really never missed them. When I did eat them I liked glazed donuts, but can't say I really cared for any of the others.

My mother, before she went to pieces, used to fry donuts in a huge cast iron skillet full of hot oil.  She roll out the dough, cut them with a donut cutter and they'd float on the hot oil and turn golden brown.  then she'd toss them in a paper bag with confectioner's sugar.  They were wonderful, one of my fondest memories of the early 1950s.

A few months ago my favorite food store, which has a very good deli section, started selling freshly baked croissants. It had been many years since I'd eaten a croissant, but I used to enjoy them. But these! Ah! To die for! This is now my one indulgence! (One of many, some might say.)

If I'm going to eat something unhealthy, the pleasure derived must outweigh the downsides. Yes on the croissants, no on the donuts.

I don't think I've ever eaten truly fresh donuts. If I had, I'd probably like them better.

It didn't help that a neighbor down the street worked in a bakery where they made donuts. One day each week he'd bring home fresh donuts for his family, but never on the other days. Only on the days when they used fresh cooking oil.
