Sunday evening greetings!  All 4 of us were on the road by 7:30am for Fr. Richard's last Sunday in Lima.  I did all the driving, of course, and Rob and Mary Linda helped Richard pack his vestments and framed certificates in the car.  The service went smoothly and they threw a nice lunch party for us, complete with cake and presents.  I took a 90-minute nap when we got home.

DR George your HOBBIT DVD sounds intriguing.

It's great!  And even though it's a fan edit, it's beautiful, just like it was a professionally released DVD!

Is the story better without the extras or just different?

For a year, I've been getting spam calls from an 805 number - I usually pick up because lots of 805 legit numbers call here and I can't remember what's real and what's not.  It's a home improvement contractor or so they say and then I just normally hang up.  You can't call back either because you get a message saying their voice mail hasn't been set up yet.

After a year of these ASSES calling me, I answered today.  Well, I went off on this guy like nobody's business - I suspect this happens to them all the time - I screamed continuously for about six minutes, called him every name I could think of and a few I couldn't think of,  told him I was going to find out where he is and come pay a visit, called him even worse names, all at the top of my lungs.  He kept talking right through it all, never stopping until I stopped for a moment to get my breath, but never acknowledging that I was berating him.  Then I switched and said, yes, I do want your services - can I give you my home address now or do you have it - do you need my credit card now, are you ready to take down that information - and he kept right on talking.  I was just like Patrick Bronstein in the opening of that book.  I finally said, how do you live with yourself - is the twelve cents an hour you're making enough for your conscience?  I said, you know what happens to morally bankrupt jerks - karma, that's what happens and your karma points are at minus 1000, although I understand the word karma is probably too big for you to understand.  There was finally silence and then he said, you seem to be out of control today, are you the homeowner?  I said, YOU, you fetid turd, you made me out of control and funnily, NO, I am NOT the home owner.  Oh, well.  At which point I hung up.

Is it always the same number?  Have you tried blocking it on your phone?

I have had a chopped salad with a bit of ham and avocado with red wine vinegar and NO bagel - so I've netted out thus far at about 300 calories, and I just had some almonds and dried cranberries that probably took me up to 500 calories - so I can definitely have a snack later.

Thanks, DRs Elmore and Jane!

He's pretty quiet.  He can't read comfortably and that's extremely frustrating for him.

Don't know how to block - how do you do that?

If it is your cell phone you can program that number not to ring.

Our last land line in Ashland and our current phone have blocking options.  If you still have the booklet for your phone the directions would be in there.  Possibly you can find it if you google the phone & ask how to block calls.

Rest is probably what he needs now.  I too find it frustrating when I can't read comfortably.  Keith's uncle had eye surgery for a tear & a detached retina.  He had to stay still for hours with his head down, lying on a contraption that looked like a massage table.  He was able to listen to books, music, or whatever.  I would go bonkers since I need to read with my eyes.

I forgot to mention, on Tuesday they have to fix another tear they missed and touch up the first surgery.  They said the recovery will be easier.  I hope so.

Okay, I Googled my phone, turned on my call screen button, and blocked the number.  Hopefully that will fix that.

It's much better because it's not the bloated mess of the three much too long movies.

I am following a really peculiar online auction - it's not a live one - you just bid online.  It was supposed to be over at five, but the deal is if anyone ups your bid in the final thirty minutes, then the thirty-minute count down begins again.  Point being, it's seven now and it's STILL going on.  Is that stupid or what?  I mean, it's a joke actually.  That's not a fair auction, that's a game.  I'm beginning to think that only Sotheby's and Bonham's have any class anymore.

We get calls from sales or other folk at least every 3-4 days and when they ask for "Cynthia" or "Joe" or whomever, we don't tell them that they have the wrong number.  We just act very sad and say that the person has died.

We had the fire department at our house this evening.

Sandy was cooking something in the oven; forgot about it until it burst into flames.

The FD was here in about 5-10 minutes; put the thing out and there was no damage to the oven or the house...just a lot of smoke.

I told Sandy that if something like this happens again, I'm putting her into a home.
