A little rant:
Many years ago, when I was working in the corporate world, many of my co-workers and I joined the company credit union. This is where we obtained financing for new cars and also started savings accounts. Even though I left that company many years ago, I kept the credit union account open just in case.
Over the last few years I've received THREE phone calls from them, DEMANDING that I either deposit more money or close the account. All three calls have been from different people and none was courteous in the least, although one of them claimed it was a "courtesy call." This really frosts me. Whatever happened to common courtesy? To trying to retain your customers? I could easily deposit more money, but I have an knee-jerk reaction when it comes to behavior I find obnoxious. This morning I went to their website and filed a complaint.
It has seemed to me for a long time that there is a big gap between, say, over-50 folks such as myself and younger people. I am often appalled at how younger people talk to one another. One website I buy from sends snarky emails. WHAT? When I pointed this out to one of their customer service people she replied, "My grandmother says the same thing." There seems to be a black hole where courtesy and respect used to be.
In the meantime, we'll see if my complaint receives any attention from the credit union. I'm quite prepared to simply close the account. I've always been an advocate of credit unions, but I'm NOT an advocate of Attila the Hun customer service.
