Set the alarm for eight-thirty but was up at six, at which point the backup was about three quarters or more.  I think the slowness is all about Time Warner and maybe the fact that my Time Machine is five years old - the newer ones are much faster.  So you watch the speed change constantly - when it's at 10 or 11 mb/s it moves along, but then suddenly it will slow down to like 3 or 4 for awhile (currently at five and crawling).  I did a two-and-a-half mile jog then went and got some detergent.  At 5 mb/s it will take another thirty-four minutes.  If it goes lower, longer, if it goes up (the hope), shorter.  In the last twenty minutes it's hardly budged - so frustratingly slow.  Just noticed that it's out of transferring programs and documents and into what I guess is the final stuff - right now it's doing the Applications folder.

Just jumped to 7 and twenty-five minutes remaining.  Hopefully it will go back up to 10 or 11 and will finish by nine-fifteen, otherwise I have to leave and I won't know what's what until noon.

Slow morning here - having trouble getting motivated.  I have pre-baked pizza crusts for tonight's dinner, but that's about the extent of my morning's accomplishments.

7 mb/s and twenty-five minutes - it has not budged for the last thirty minutes - yes, it's said twenty-five minutes for the past thirty minutes.  Don't know whether to stay or go, to call Apple, or what.

I turned off the lights around 10:00.  I had been feeling yucky all day, and around 12:30 my stomach pains were really bad.  The more I lay there, wondering if I would be around today, I became convinced that there was a leak somewhere in my abdomen and that it was filling with fluid, like an aquarium tank.  I'm not svelte, but I was convinced that my waist, which is the broadest part of my body - I think I'm rather pear-shaped - and that my upper torso was now the broadest part of my body.  My former Drama Book Shop employer had died from an aortic aneurism, and I thought, is this what I have?  Jonathan Larsen had gone to several ER's before the aneurism killed him, so I thought, okay, get dressed and grab a taxi.

So, I got to the ER around 1:00am, saw a nurse for blood work, a doctor for a discussion, and another nurse who gave me an EKG.  That went on until around 2:30.  When I got to the ER I texted Joshie, in case they admitted me or I died, and he called me back.  He's in Vermont with his family this weekend.

After all the exams, I had nothing to do but wait.  I couldn't sleep with all the bustle, so I watched the activity.  Around 4:30 a very pregnant doctor spoke to me and told me they would shortly have my test results so I could be dismissed.  At 5:45, the lab results came in.  I got my paperwork and headed home.

I felt so poorly yesterday I forgot to buy lottery tickets.  If anyone wins, that should have been mine!

Have to leave.  It hasn't budged and the mb/s should be fluctuating but hasn't budged either.  I called Apple and they said to give it a couple more hours - he said he's seen it happen repeatedly that sometimes it will get to a point and actually be done but just not give you the done screen.  When you restart then you're suddenly up and running.  But if something is just frozen and it's not done, then you start from scratch and that's just disgusting to me.  And we may have to do it manually at that point.

Just as I typed that the blue task bar went all the way to the end - the about twenty-five minutes and 7 mb/s is still there, but it now says it's transferring files and folders and that shouldn't take all that long.  So I don't know whether to hang around or leave.

DR Elmore, thanks for checking in!  Do you have a diagnosis or a referral for follow-up?

Guess what completed?  Guess where I'm writing this here post from?  Yes, the restore completed and I'm up and running.  Trackpad and keyboard are wirelessly working, I activated Word easily.  It seems to have brought over everything, including passwords and stuff, so that's great.  All Word docs look perfect.  Hallelujah!

El Capitan was already installed.  The new trackpad does some amazing things, too.
