Before waking up this morning I was driving backwards through some nice downtown area, and by the time I realized it was getting too busy and crowded for that, I was getting shoehorned in at this light and couldn't turn around.

So, good riddance to that one. Nice downtown, though.

Prior to that, in a dream I thought would never reach a conclusion, I was on the fast track to musical humiliation because I knew nothing about authentic early twentieth century blues music. That description barely scratches the surface, and we'll just leave it at that.

FRIDAY!!!

We had a fine opening night last night with attendance of 123...on a sale of 133....

Everybody was talking very FAST, so some laughs were missed, but in general the audience was very enthusiastic, and the actors were very good.

Around 2:15 this morning I awoke with an anxiety attack, couldn't get back to sllp so I played at the computer for a bit, then went back to bed. Then I slept very poorly. I had a dream in which my mother and one of her sisters appeared.

I got an email from my best friend from college, Matthew Kiernan. He's moving to San Francicso next Wednesday after selling his Brooklyn condo. Thirty years ago I found him a job with a producer and he moved to Manhattan from Boston. I'm sorry he's leaving the East Coast.

I am convinced U put that War & Peace set aside to watch over a month ago, but I am not laying hands on it. So, I decided to watch the 1977 BBC version of Anna Karenina. I watch 3 episodes of 10 last night. I think it's ther best adaptation I've seen. The production and casting are really fine.

My problem with the novel, which I have read, is that my favorite characters are Konstantin and Kitty. I am more moved by Levin's situation with his brothers than with Anna's mess. Anna's continuous torture over the situation with Karenin and Vronksy bored me after a while. It may be "Russian" but to me she was sitting on the fence too long.
