My eyes were very tired by the end.

And then I had to assemble to bird's cage and get him comfortable.

I still am, but I managed to get about seven hours. I'm going back for more.

Thanks for the notes on Genius, Druxy. I probably won't be buying that one.

On the drive back, I listened to the last three-quarters of Eric Jerome Dickey's Sleeping With Strangers, which was supposedly a noir thriller but was really explicit sex scene after explicit sex scene. There's a sequel, Waking With Strangers. Maybe they have time for the plot in that one. Naaaaah.

I also listened to the first third of Swann's Way. I've tried reading Proust, but the crazy curlicues of sentences sort of puts me to sleep. Listening to them, especially as read by George Guidell, was a lot easier. I guess, if I ever pick up the other six volumes, I'll be reading it out loud to myself.

Was just thinking about McGlinn.

I didn't know about this box set till yesterday:

https://www.amazon.com/Broadway-Musicals-John-Mcglinn/dp/B002NZOLFA/ref=sr_1_1?s=music&ie=UTF8&qid=1473600635&sr=1-1&keywords=John+mcglinn

As soon as John died, EMI, which had dropped his contract around 1995, took full advantage of all the recordings he'd made for them.  I think all of his recordings are there except for the Gershwin Songs and overtures, but it's a really good deal.  Whoever did the artwork implies there's the 1970 NO NO NANETTE revival, rather than 1925 original, and the Lincoln Center revision of ANYTHING GOES.  since EMI did neither of those recordings, that's pretty irresponsible!

Me, neither, but you know we booksellers know nothing, except be nice to the customer who may know even less.

Sunday afternoon greetings!  Richard and I attended Heritage Sunday today at First United Methodist Church here in Middletown.  It's the church where his parents grew up and married, where he and his brothers grew up, where we were married, where Rob grew up and had his Eagle Scout Court of Honor, and where memorial services were held for both of Richard's parents.  Today was Heritage Sunday to celebrate the 125th anniversary of the building (congregation is much older), which was designed by Samuel Hanneford, the architect of Cincinnati's Music Hall.  There was a service filled with hymn-singing and a lovely potluck luncheon in Fellowship Hall.  Many good memories...
