Well, it's a Saturday, and today's expected high is 68 degrees on the Fahrenheit scale.  Should feel fall-like now.

And I don't have a LOT to accomplish, but I must make sure I've indeed accomplished whatever there is to accomplish, including throwing my things together and making sure I'm absolutely ready to pull out of here for Morgantown, West Virginia at seven a.m. tomorrow.

TOD:
I mostly buy all my clothes from Amazon.com, especially shoes. I've kind of gone shoe-crazy these past couple years. Occasionally, I get little t-shirts from Target. And sometimes I get jeans from Lands End or LLBean. I've always been pretty fussy about the fabric, always preferring silk, rayon or cotton over polyester. But these days, it's impossible to find a dress that's not made of polyester. That said, polyester has improved a lot over the years. It's much softer and more comfortable than it used to be, and I now own a plethora of polyester dresses that I get many compliments on. And I can't ever go to a Kritzerland show without someone commenting on my sparkly boots. Doug Haverty actually grabbed me by the foot once and said, "there's my favorite shoes!" It was pretty funny.

I will be happy when Oct. 13 arrives and I can get this hip injection.  The pains really screw with your daily processes.  I was awake until 4:30 this morning.

Mark and I are in Overland, Kansas right now for the premiere of the brand new musical, "Have You Met Miss Jones?" It's a show written by Shirley Jone's son, Shaun Cassidy, and stars her other son, Patrick Cassidy and herself. It's surprisingly good. It has many songs from Shirley's musicals, but also several songs I'm sure no one in the audience has ever heard. For instance, it has songs from "Fade Out Fade In", "Wish You Were Here" and "Maggie Flynn". I know, Maggie who? The script is smart and at about 2 hours long, the show moves along at a nice pace. So, if anyone here lives within driving distance, I highly recommend it.

Last night I finished the edits of "Sue Me" and I am halfway through "Sit Down, You're Rocking the Boat."  The end of Act Two is in sight.  The only major song left to deal with is "Marry the Man Today."

Sounds like fun, but the first two shows were more Jack Cassidy than Shirley. I know people love Maggie Flynn, but I find the children unbearable and some of the rhyming so clunky that I can't warm up to the music.

Speaking of Maggie Flynn, my friend Carol and her then husband, Gene, worked on the show. Gene must have liked it. When he got a parrot late in his life, he named the bird Maggie Flynn. I never could figure out if the bird liked being named after a flop.

Fashion:

I paid attention to what was in style when I was in high school and couldn't afford anything. Now, I buy what I like and the style hasn't changed in ages. I love black. Lately, I've been getting more red shirts, because we wear red on Fridays at work in honor of those serving in the military. I love Hawaiian shirts. I love shorts, even more now that we can wear them to work.

Linen, cotton, natural fabrics. That shirt in the avatar was a linen piece I picked up about 22 years ago in Guatemala. Still wear it.

I still wear stuff I had when I was in my 20s, though I'm not holding on to everything like I used to. (Shirts that is. Waist sized has goen up and down too much on pants.) Once or twice a year, I thin things out.

"Maggie Flynn"?

Dreadful show.  It's one of those "why did I buy this crap?" recordings.  I knew lyricist-composer George David Weiss, a nice man whose opinion of his talents was much larger than the reality.

Okay, I re-read what I wrote and my paragraph structure does misleadingly suggest they're all Shirley Jones musicals. Sorry about that! The show has songs from many shows that Shirley never appeared in, including "Pirates of Penzance" and "Annie Get Your Gun" which are shows that Patrick starred in on Broadway. The show is about Shirley's life. And Jack Cassidy and her children were a part of her life, so the show captures their work as well as hers. I mean, if the show just had songs from Oklahoma!, Carousel, and The Music Man, it wouldn't be much of a show now would it?

I usually dress as though I just climbed off my coal barge, but I'm happy.

I also see that my fashion sense has changed little in 68 years.
