Since most of the US was on holiday today  I had only three phone calls and only about 60 emails  ( instead of the usual 250+).  As a result it was an extremely productive day and I actually left the office a little after 3 pm

Yup, seriously.  Your Tex-Mex lunch was perfect timing for my little lead into this :D

Has anyone seen Anomolisa? It's one very odd animated film that fascinates and alienates me at the same time.

When?

I am glad you asked.  I went to the calendar to see when Keith booked our hotel, Dec 23rd through the 27th, and found he booked the wrong hotel.  He had said we are staying at the Marriott Riverfront but booked the Rivercenter.

No.

After that description I watched the trailer and see why you have this reaction.

I saw this a few months ago at the Olympia Film Society with a friend of mine.  I thought that I had posted about it, but nothing comes up in a search.  I even searched the correct spelling of "Anomalisa."

;)

And on that note (A-natural), I have to go to rehearsal.

Until later.

I also did a search with both spellings.

Well, Jane, I hope we can get together then. It would be wonderful to meet you and the DH in person.

Do you have an opinions on hotels with great views of the river lights?

It was good I discovered Keith's error.  The hotels are very close together and the view from the riverwalk Marriott isn't a big deal.  The error, which is changeable if we decide to, gave me a dose of reality vs all the photos I see.

Any and all down there should have nice views of the lights. Which side of the Marriott are you on? Does it face the mall or the convention center?

The mall would be really nice because it's where the boats turn around.

What kind of food are you interested in when you're not having spinach enchiladas?

Are you referring to the Marriott Center vs river.  I think we have a city view.

You'll be very close to the Alamo, which is also decorated with a huge tree that's about two stories high and plenty of lights.

Senor Veggie is a vegetarian Tex-Mex place that I think you'll like.
La Fonda on Main has the spinach enchiladas and a series of margaritas, including one of my favorites in town. It also has a gorgeous outdoor patio, if the evenings are warm while you're there (and they really could be).
La Gloria is a chance to visit the Pearl Brewery campus for excellent Mexican food by the water. You can also tour the grounds, see the Hotel Emma, which is a foodie hotel that has a remarkable interior. (http://www.thehotelemma.com/)
Lick, an ice cream parlor with some great choices, is also at the Pearl, as is Green Vegetarian and Bakery Lorraine, which makes the finest macarons in the state. Two places on the property brew their own beers. It's fun for a walkabout, too, if you want to try a course at one place and then move on to another place and another and another.

You really don't want to eat along the River Walk, except for maybe a snack. You also don't want to eat at the top of the Tower of the Americas, though it's fun for a drink. The view of the whole city is spectacular.

If it's not too windy, you'll want to go to the bar Paramour, which is a rooftop place with a nice view and some great drinks.
