TAKE FIVE
« on: October 16, 2016, 01:18:24 AM »

Well, you've read the notes, the notes took five, and now it is time for you to post until the five cows come home - they're currently listening to some Dave MOObeck.

BK, are TAKE FIVE and TIME OUT the same piece?  I got a little confused reading the notes.

Never realized the incredible output of music that Dave Brubeck had. Those 19 albums on the box set that BK mentions is only a fraction of his output. He actually started recording two years prior to the start of this collection (1954) and ended his association with Columbia two years after this collection. (1968). There are 25 additional albums he made for the label.
There were also 69 other albums he made for other labels such as Fantasy, Decca, Atlantic, Telarc and Naxos. He also went back to Columbia for a few additional albums.

OMG, a blessed day at home.

Yesterday was fun, and yet hellish due to the prior night of awful sleep, and I need a day of rest and relaxation.

I liked the photo of the anniversary dinner that featured the bridge in DR JANE's  video.

The local station also had a program dj for a day when they would choose teens to be on the air for an hour on a Saturday afternoon you got to choose your own music and spoke between the selections, introduced the records and commercials

I remember calling into a few stations, too, and if the person or DJ actually running the program didn't pick up, they came to the phone right away... and I was always rewarded with patience, understanding of the question, and answers.

Holy moley, what did I just say?  When does that happen today, in just about anything?

A couple that immediately come to mind:

KCRW-FM, about something I thought was wrong with a classical recording they were playing.  That one was really interesting, as it resulted in me being permitted to make a visit to the station to personally examine the recording in question.

KFAC-FM, "the" L.A. classical station, regarding transmission issues with the Metropolitan Opera broadcasts that used to travel - not always reliably - over the nation's telephone lines back in the day.
