I'm back for a minute!
TOD:
Favorite flop play: Teibele and Her Demon by Isaac Bashevis Singer, really magnificent
Musicals: Candide, 1956, and still the best version
The Grass Harp, brilliant score and lyrics, pathetic book
Bright Star, wonderful score and book, poor lyrics
When I was in high school, a bunch of us from my high school choir went up and saw a production of
Candide at Pacific Lutheran University that a graduated former choir member was in. The only thing about the whole production that I remember is that when they took their bows, the ENTIRE chorus lined up along the front of the very wide stage in one row (and they just fit), and starting at one end, every single person took a bow, one after the other, like the Wave that they do at sporting events, but bowing one at a time. UNFORTUNATELY, when the last person took a bow, the entire line did it all again, going back across the stage to the first person that started it all! WTH?? Seriously, that's the ONLY thing that I remember about it.
