I continue with Mr. Bernstein - on to the Jeremiah symphony no. 1, which I really like, then Symphony No. 2, The Age of Anxiety, which I REALLY love a lot. First the stereo longer version he revised for pianist Phillippe Entremont - in the final movement of the original version the pianist literally plays nothing until the final bar. Bernstein added about two minutes to that final movement for Entremont. It's a lovely performance, but it's followed by Bernstein's original recording from the early 50s, in mono, with Lukas Foss at the piano - that performance, despite the mono sound, is absolutely fierce and brilliant. Nice to have them both, I must say.
