Having a Florence Henderson listening afternoon.  Just finished South Pacific which I had forgotten how amazing that recording is.  Now, onto Oklahoma - also, on the Broadway CD of Flower Drum Song there are some "singles" sung by FH.  Thanks Apple Music  :-)

Wish I could find my copy of The Girl Who Came to Supper. It's somewhere in there.

I redid parts of "Let's Not Talk About Love" and had a breakdown over Guys & Dolls.  There's something weird with the computer files and they need to be corrected before the work continues.

The files being used for the new vocal score should reflect the corrected new parts.  The fact that they don't means it's back to Square One.

I would have enjoyed Allied more if I hadn't seen trailers on TV that gave away some major plot points.

I am really craving pie, pumpkin, apple, or pecan.  Really badly.  I guess when my pension lands on Thursday there will be a trek to the Little Pie Co.

I'm surprised because my colleague is usually pretty much on top of things.  Until I hear from him, I'm clueless.  I hope they pay us this week for finishing Act Two.  My colleague held my invoice for two weeks before submitting his and mine and we need to talk.

Had a good and quick work session, then a surprise lunch with Nick Redman and the very sweet actress, Kathleen Wilhoite.

Picked up a few packages and am uploading new CDs into iTunes, and then I'll get my first taste of SACD in the den.  Three SACDs arrived.

Completely addicted to Villa-Lobos.  The mono recordings he conducted are terrible-sounding - bad mono, and his music cries out for stereo, anyway.  But I literally couldn't listen - all orchestral detail is so distant and bad-sounding.  And I'm not that fond of the Batiz sound either, so I have a complete set of the Bachianas and Choros pieces on their way - an odd label for them to be on, the Scandinavian label BIS, but it's a Brazilian orchestra and the samples on Amazon sound amazing.

Don't think I'll make it to that partay - doesn't start until five and I just need to write commentary and relax.  Lunch was VERY light - a lunch-size portion of cashew chicken - couldn't have even been two ounces of chicken.

Uploading two Gershwin CDs of newer vintage - these are the Rhapsody, American in Paris, and the Concerto in F in their original smaller orchestrations - I heard samples and they're really interesting and quite good.

If you have a multi-region DVD player I cannot recommend the three volumes of The Killing enough - if you've only seen the terrible American version, the original Swedish series is amazing and its leading lady is brilliant.

We just finished the last of the 2 pumpkin pies that I baked for Sunday's feast and there's about half a Marie Callender's apple pie in the fridge from yesterday.  Guess I'll have to make a pecan pie for Christmas...

The worst Black Friday traffic back-up we saw today was was the exit ramp from northbound I-75 at Monroe (one exit south of Middletown).  At that intersection there are 2 flea markets and a huge outlet mall.

Did you know that at the time he conducted Menotti's Amahl and the Night Visitors, Thomas Schippers was all of twenty-one years of age.  And he conducted all the famous Barber pieces before he was twenty-four.

The only place I have gone today is for a walk.  I almost purchased something on line but didn't.
