I think I'll go to bed early rather than stay up until three as I do most nights.

TOD:  I'm trying a resolution I may have a reasonable chance of keeping, at least for a few months.  Instead of letting mail and packages pile up and get out of hand, i'm going to open it as it comes in and try to deal with it as quickly as possible.

I think I've said it before, BK, but maybe not on HHW - What a wonderful thing it is that you connected with Mr. Sherman, both for what it's brought to keeping the Sherman Brothers' and Mr. Sherman's work alive, and also for what it seems to have brought to your own work.

I'm glad I'm here posting these notes. I narrowly missed killing myself, sister, brother-in-law and nephew last night.

This was due to an a-hole driver last night. The 1-95 towards Miami has express toll lanes which I was using. They are divided by pylons. There was an accident on the regular side and the a-hole driver to avoid the traffic backup drove through the pylons right in front of me. To avoid hitting him full on I swerved into the next lane (Luckily there was a second lane at this part) and side swiped another car. We pulled over. Very dangerous. We exchanged phone numbers. Got a picture of his license plate and moved on.

I looked at my car when I got home and there are minor scratches. I won't put in a claim. Will have to wait and see what the other person will do.

After the accident I continued to drive my nephew to Miami and we were in the car when the new year turned. Took me a hour to drop him off from the exit to the adress where he was going which it should have been 10 to 15 minutes at the most.

I turned around and drove home with all those crazy drivers. Which is why I don't go out on New Years Eve.

There are moments I think that whatever struck me hard in 2013 is over, and more times than I'd like I'm reminded that it will be with me until I croak.  So, I am grateful that 2016 was a turn for the better in both work and my health and I am even more grateful for the friends who helped me though the worst of the past three years.  I can only hope that this positive move increases in 2017.

I need to run to a market first thing this morning, and then I will be indoors for today and tomorrow, cooking and working on two projects.

vixmom - What an interesting supermarket story last night!

Maybe you should write it up and submit it to the Times' Metropolitan Diary.

TOD:

I'd like to finish up Proust now that I've started it. I'm almost halfway through Vol. 4. The last three volumes are much shorter, so if I can just find some time tucked away somewhere, then here's hoping ...

TOD 2:

Finding time seems to be the big item on the list. I'd love to find the time to

Visit my folks.
Clean my house.
Play more with the bird, who is yelling at me right now to come play with him.
Travel.

TOD 3:

I'd love to find a way to make it to New York in March for The New Yorkers and in spring to visit my friend, Mickey, in Colorado.

While we're talking about the March HHW get-together -

Could anyone who's trying to make it to Manhattan for the April get-together (while Dr Matthew is in town) let me know which day works for them, Tuesday April 18, Wednesday April 19, or if either of those would be OK?

That is a very frightening story, Michael. I'm so glad you are ok.

I think your new policy should be that you don't drive on New Year's Eve (unless you really want to).

Luckily the church is around the corner. The only reason I drive on NYE is because I have stuff I am bringing home.

PSA: If you make a cherpumple, frost it with lightly sweetened whipped cream. It cuts down on the sweetness. It is overwhelming with the cream cheese frosting.
