  • Have a REALLY nice day!

Monday afternoon greetings!  Richard and I watched the Rose Parade and did errands as soon as it was over.  Bought scotch and cookies and visited Mom.  I gave the scotch to her nurse and the cookies to Mom.  We then did our own grocery shopping and now I'm settled in for the Rose Bowl.

A wise move giving the scotch to her nurse to dole out.

TOD - we had a nice New Year's Day visit from DN/goddaughter Lauren, her husband Jim, and their son J.  He liked the board books we gave him for Christmas and, with some coaching, said "Thank You."  Before and after their visit we watched pro football and I continued the eye drop routine.  As of today, I'm doing the post-op dosage in my right eye and the pre-op in my left.  Fortunately, they gave me a checklist that makes the process as idiot-proof as possible.

You are lucky not to have to wait too long between surgeries.  May the next one go smoothly.

I've had the Thing that's going around off and on all week. No head cold symptoms--I rarely get head colds--but when it hits me it saps my strength. I don't feel sick today, but I haven't wanted to push it, either. I had a surprisingly productive day of laundry and bill-paying, and even started one of my tax tallies. I said productive, not exciting, right?

I empathize with DR Chas--this thing doesn't want to go away. Mine hasn't been bad, just stubborn.

Starting season two of A Place to Call Home. I agree, Elmore, the jump into the future is not something I like.

The show had been canceled and my guess is they were surprised by the renewal and wrote that episode very quickly.

I am still coughing but as long as the bronchitis doesn't return I am tolerant with it.

DR Ginny, I remember the eyedrop routine well. It gets very complicated, especially since not everyone is using the same eyedrops. Some of them really sting, too. Ugh! Your next surgery is the end of this week?

We bundled up and went for a 5 mile walk.  It wasn't too bad during the first half when the wind was to our backs, and then we turned around and walked home.

Didn't your doctor prescribe some cough syrup? It hasn't helped?

Yes, with codeine.  My cough doesn't need anything that strong.  I could take an expectorant such as Mucinex.   If the temps warm up I should be better, if not then I will take something.  I feel like I took enough during the bronchitis stage.  The pollen count is really bad here which might be part of it.  My eyes have been terribly itching and swollen.

I checked the weather forecast.  It doesn't appear it will warm up in the near future.

She's not allowed to keep it in her room.  And the doctor had to prescribe it.

I don't think I could stand these mismatched eyes very long.

Yes, DR Jeanne, next surgery is Thursday.

The drops I'm using at home aren't too bad, but some of the ones they have me right before surgery were real stingers.

That is funny the doctor had to prescribe it, still I think it is very nice they permit alcohol there.  When I volunteered at the nursing home I don't know if anyone drank on the premises.  One time there was a field trip I did not volunteer to participate, a night out at a bar ;D

Here is my question to those with cold and flu - did you buy Sambucol?

I always take Sambucol, which may be why mine hasn't been too bad. But is IS persistent.

I never had a cold or flu, just bronchitis.  I have not tried Sambucol.  I am interested if it helps others.

Thanks.  I think Keith is more annoyed by it, since he is also concerned, than I am.  I'm thinking the inhaler might really be what I need, if it is the same tomorrow.

The pollen count should be better over the next few days and that might make a difference.

It was cancelled after Season 2, which is why Season three has both the official ending of Season 2 and the cliffhanger ending made before the season was cancelled.
