I was able to get a ticket for Finian's Rainbow, which had been sold out, with the help of Melissa Errico, the star of the show.  I'm her Facebook friend (apparently she'll let anyone be her friend!) and she had offered to help anyone who messaged her.  She said she thinks the weather was on my side, and sure enough there was a cancellation. Maybe I could have gotten the ticket if I had just called the box office at the right time, but Melissa asked the ticket guy to hold the ticket until I called with my credit card info.  So nice of her !

I thought Finian's was terrific!  It's on a much smaller scale version than the revival from a few years ago (in which our own DR Elmore did the orchestrations--and I loved that show!).

The entire cast was great.  I love Melissa's voice.  The leprechaun was very funny and was about 6 feet tall.

I noticed Josh's name as the orchestrator in the playbill.  There were only 4 or 5 musicians  - all women. The music sounded great too!

Later I saw the Four Phantoms at 54 Below.  There was a young woman vocalist too (not the singer who was on the ice skating show, DR Ginny!)

I had a delightful time with Ben and Anthony yesterday. We had lunch/brunch at the usual place , Good Stuff Diner. I was invited back to their place to see their Christmas decorations , which are so well done!

Later I went to the Hilton for the "APAP" showcase.  Musical acts perform an abbreviated show for potential concert bookers.

TOD:

First Piano Concerto in B Flat Minor by Tchaikovsky

I am afraid I don't know enough about the Mozart concertos to comment....but I can learn.

The Broadway Tenors, represented by Brent B., Kyle Dean Massey and Jeff Kready, performed for about 15 minutes at 8:30, 9:00 and 10:00.

I was wondering if I would be allowed to go to the presentations but there was no problem.  Nobody was checking for badges.

It's 47 out and going up to 68 today. By Wednesday, it should be 81 degrees.

It's time for the San Antonio Cocktail Conference. We almost always have great weather for that.

I should have timed my visit for the conference ;)

Will you participate at all?

Love that score.

I was thinking of Ben last night and planned to ask today if anyone has seen them.  I am glad they are doing well.  Yes, the Christmas decorations.  I miss the yearly photos.

For the 3rd night in a row I actually slept half way decently.  I was so exhausted yesterday from weeks of barely any sleep, topped off by the night of a migraine, I slept on and off yesterday until after 9:00.  That is very late for me.

I woke up bright and full of energy this morning, got dressed in case the dentist office had not cancelled my appointment, and was already to go.  It didn't look too icy here and I saw a neighbor walking around so I called the dentist to say I could still make my appointment.  It turns out the dentist is iced in ;D

"Warhorses", as in overused?

That is certainly a possibility for some folks about some pieces, but I think he meant it in terms of a musical, theatrical, or literary work that has been heard or performed repeatedly.

Again, "overused" is a possibility.

Hello, everybody.

My name's Ron.

I've been sick lately.  And it hasn't gone away, yet.

Hoarse today, I am.  And a bit sniffly.

Vibes for Ron. Don't like all these folks with lingering maladies.
