Sunday was a big HHW day: BK finished "the latest book," which I'm looking forward to, DR Ginny continues to terrorize Georgia, and DR TCB is back in rehearsal.

Monday morning greetings!  Today's my last conference day and it's a bit more leisurely than Saturday and Sunday.  Just going to wander the exhibit hall until it's time to find a seat to hear the closing speaker - Neil Patrick Harris!

DR Ginny, has anyone addressed the possibility that this new presidential Christian right administration may encourage banning books?

Had a bizarre dream that I was attending an environmental production of a non musical version of Zorba, except there was no Zorba or any mention of Zorba. I got bored and asked if we were in one of those stupid productions in which we were supposed to be our own Zorba. As they were hemming and hawing their answers, I woke up.

I don't like getting bored with my own dreams.

She plays herself at the beginning. It's a walk-on. She's also blond. Very memorable. To me.

Yes, Fred Astaire gets off the train and greets reporters he assume are there for him...then Ava gets off and they rush toward her.

Easy to forget about in the long run, but a very amusing/bittersweet moment.

I concur with the films of Ava Gardner already mentioned, but I would be remiss if I didn't add two personal favorites:

Pandora and the Flying Dutchman
55 Days at Peking

I have a jury summons for today.

I didn't have to attend the 9 a.m. roll call, but I have to call in at 11 a.m. to see if I'll be needed for the afternoon roll call.

BK

Ever thought of bringing your files on an USB drive to Staples and having them print out from that so that way you don't have to print a copy for them print from and you wouldn't have to rush back home to print missing pages?

Once the book is finished, yes, I always bring a PDF on a flash drive.  Until that time, I print out the pages here because I want  a copy next to me as I go - and so I just print out and bring there - easier that way rather than making a PDF every time, which you have to do with Word docs as every computer and printer will do something wacky to them.

The weather is extremely windy and we are due for rain.  I mist step out around 6:30 for Rob Berman's birthday festivities,  Thank God it's not far away.  We're meeting at Cafe Frida.

It just poured hugely - for exactly thirty seconds.  Now it is not raining and it looks like the sun might be trying to break through.  Make up your damn mind, I say.

From DR TCB:
Quote
We would have to win the state competition first.  Flying would probably be easier, but I imagine we would drive.

No wonder I didn't realize you were going to Idaho as you need to stay in Washington first, then you will go to Idaho.

Where in Washington is the competition?

DR Ginny, has anyone addressed the possibility that this new presidential Christian right administration may encourage banning books?

There's not much love in the library community for the new regime, but there's determination that libraries have a significant role to play in the resistance.

Neil Patrick Harris was fabulous!  He's promoting his new book for young readers, Magical Misfits, but I didn't stand in line to get a copy and have it autographed.

Today, the MD for a show I orchestrated in 2002 for the New York State Theatre Institute asked me to score a show he's doing for NYMF this summer.  I like the premise, and it sounds funny, so I look forward to seeing the score and reading the script before I say yes.
